Something about my driver :-/

So I'm hitting my driver a lot better but I'm constantly fighting a tendency to let my hands move away from my body on the downswing. I think it's causing heel strikes. I think it might also be tied into not closing the club face properly which compounds the problem.

I don't do it with my 3 hybrid (or any other clubs) so why my driver? And how can I de-train myself?

A few things that cause it, getting stuck is a simple one to fix if that's an issue. Or trying to swing out to right feild.

i get into trouble taking the driver back too quickly and losing width in the swing. Getting flat seems like it would help to hit up on it, but i get stuck when my swing is not in tune. the fix is a more deliberate backswing, trying to trace a straight line back from the ball and keeping width. feels like I am setting up to come over the top, but it actually gives the hands a ton of run to work down to the line and back to the left.

Trying to hit up too much is the most likely reason. I see it often.

I posted a thread the other day asking if teeing the ball too high with driver and trying to hit up could cause my swing plane to shift flatter and promote pulls and hooks. Monte simply responded "yes."

I tee'd the ball much lower on Saturday in a tournament and hit 11/14 fairways, and all 3 misses were on the right side. Not one hook or pull. No conscious swing change at all.

Thanks for all your comments. I use a pink tee so not normally high but interestingly I'm at risk of striking the crown of the head most of the time. Probably that's more down to not keeping my head behind the ball but I wonder if I'm trying to avoid that by lifting the club?
