Laguna 2 vs Newport/anser style shape

I recently purchased a Scotty Cameron Luguna 2 putter and I have always played a anser styled 2 putter more specifically it was the first Cleveland classic milled putter I played. But anyway I’ve been having issues adjusting to the overview of the putter at address and I was curious if any gentleman out there think that it may be due to the head shape and not the neck style.

I’ve never like the address view of this style putter. As someone who also prefers Newport or Anser shaped putters, the heel to toe view is just awkward to me.

Do you think the perimeter weighting is different because of this or?

I also could not get used to Zing/Laguna styled head shape.

Out of the 2 I prefer the anser shape. But the Monterey shape is more preferred over those for me.

Edit: it's pretty crazy heavy at 375 grams. Wonder if that's a typo?

Feels that heavy tbh. I've played heavy mallets for the last few years and feels consistent with those. I have mine playing at 33.5" with a 60g grip.

I'll agree that the headshape can take some getting used to. But I found that I was sinking a lot more putts once I got my Laguna. I torched it and prefer the bronze colour it is now as opposed to the metal/mill silver it was. Now it looks way better at address to me.

I currently have a raw Classic II after selling a Laguna Two. I too have difficulties as well, it must be the design as those beautiful curves sort of mesmerize me on address. After penciling in a flange site line improves my aim quite a bit. If it does not work out I’ll dump it and do back to a trusted anser.

I guess I’m the minority here I actually prefer the my day / laguna head to to the anser head. I find the head shape easier to line up. And the toe hang is more on my My Day then the anser so maybe that has something to do with it as well. But that is the one putter I keep going back to time after time

This is how I line it up. Top line (Vertical) is dead center on my stance, bottom of the ball is in line with the toe side of the hosel/neck while further left would be the center of a cup. As for swing arc, it really varies due to body

clearance, as I did notice friends really load me up before the back nine or even before a round...lol. A remedy to this would be a short back swing and longer front swing. Obviously this won’t usually work on irons and above if to need the distance.

I do have a preferred set up with my method 006 and I think a set up change my help with stroking the putter

Post your lagunas and putting more, GIVE ME MORE ??

3 months after making above statement, I really wanna try a Zing putter.

Laguna 2.5

I was always an Anser guy until I happened to pick up a Laguna in a store last year. I was suddenly much more confident in my alignment and started to drain putts like crazy. Obviously I put it in the bag right away. Since then I have come to realize that a critical part of alignment for me is a clean and straight top line. The Laguna has a lengthy and relatively narrow top line with little going on behind it to cause distraction. Now even an Anser seems a little busy to me!
