I Think I'll Keep These For Awhile

Thought I'd add a few goodies to the bag for the foreseeable future.

Thanks slimreaper....yeah the 7 hybrid is always a topic of conversation with my golfing buds but it works for me...the latest additions are the Steelhead irons which I really like.

Is the 7 head a women's head?

GoIrish17 yes it is a ladies 7 hybrid head...but I have it paired with the Recoil 460 F2 shaft which is actually a 6 hybrid shaft. I have all the hybrids set up with longer shafts (7 head on a 6 shaft, 6 head on a 5 shaft, etc...) but it works well for me. Hence the comments from my golfing partners when I take the 7 hybrid out of the bag.

Well, I guess that's a good idea if all you want to do is shoot good scores. Doesn't sound as much fun as "playing the field" though. :)

BTW, I'm playing 4, 7, and 9 woods and may add an 11 wood.

BKN1964 nothing wrong with a lot of wood!!!...I have one FW wood...the Heavenwood which is a second shot machine....it definitely helps with "not playing the field"!!!! I'm too old for that...!!!

I should add for clarity in case anyone misunderstands my sense of humor: I agree with slimreaper30 that's a solid setup. As noted above, I have a similar setup, although with fairway woods instead of hybrids, and have been shooting my best scores. Now if I could just convince myself to leave my 10 other bags of blades/vintage/etc. in the basement more often ....

Hahahahaha !!!! BKN1964 I got your sense of humor no worries... !!! We're thinking along the same lines...!!! I'm 50 and don't have the distance I used to...so I need all the help I can get...I've pieced this set together over the last year and it has worked well for me....

Bobb3rdown the putter is a 34 inch Callie. I added the Super Stroke grip and I really like the feel of it. I picked it up for a steal at my local Academy for 24.99 several years back and have never considered changing it.

It is great seeing a bag with multiple hybrids. I dumped the 3 and 4 irons several years back and plan to add a 5 hybrid this winter.

Nice set up. I use 5i-PW +GW, SW & LW, then 4,7,9 woods (no hybrids) & wish I had use this make up even when younger & 12MPH more club head speed. The lofted woods are so much easier to hit. Why only 13 clubs?

I never had a 3 wood, only the Heavenwood. Hence the 13 clubs. However I recently ordered a 3 wood and it's on the way. So I will have a full 14 club set very soon.

Well I made some updates. I added a Rogue 3 wood and swapped out the wedges for a 50 and a 54 SM7. Had no idea how bad my wedges were until I picked up the new ones. Definitely an improvement!!!

Yet another update..... So I got to thinking about these hybrids I have, the 2015 Callaway Big Berthas. To make a long story short, I picked up another 7 hybrid, and turned it into an 8 hybrid by adjusting it to 34 degrees. So I have exactly 3 degrees of gap between each of my hybrids. So from my 54 degree wedge to my 4 hybrid, I have 10-12 yards in between each club. It may be a totally insane idea but I'm gonna try it and see how it works for the long term.

Do you find that having exactly 3* gaps throughout the bag works out to 10-12yds in real life? Recently out a 5h in the bag. I like the idea of no traditional bags

I say go for it. Maybe make some adjustments or not to fit your game. IMHO 3* and 10 to 12 yards is not really bad. Remember the difference between the range and course will really vary according to wind and slope just to name a few. I am all for experimentation and getting your equipment dialed in for YOUR swing and game.

Big Stu should there be more loft between each club? I ask because I based the setup on the new Big Bertha Hybrids, which are a little different than mine (the new 8 hybrid is around 33 degrees standard). And there are between 3 and 4 degrees of loft between each club (depending on the club of course). I also have an 8 iron to fill the gap between the 8 hybrid and the 9 iron.

BTW I like the Adams FW you have in your setup. I was a huge Adams fan and played them for many years. I still have a set of Redline irons that I hated to retire but it got to the point where I couldn't find them anymore.

That is kinds subjective as to how you hit them and your distances and ball flights. There are really no absolutes in this game including lofts. Also a lot on how they play for someone can be shaft flex and where the shaft kicks. good example my Adams 23* hybrid I can hit a variety of shots with it. I am also old school and can deloft the face by opening it up or can hit a bullett screamer by shutting the face down and changing my ball position. I also carry either a 19* hybrid or 18* 5 wood. I also carry a 16* what I call a 4 wood. I work different shots with them. I also carry a 19* 2 iron. That 2 iron I can it about a 6 foot high bullett screamer cut with it and know I can do it. Sometimes with the hybrid or 5 wood I can hit a nasty rope hook playing it back in my stance. But with me I have practiced my clubs and with experience know what I can or can't do with them. But practice and play with yours and see how the gaps work for you.

NOTE I do have the Adams 18* that goes with the 16* Adams but my go to is an older and I mean ancient Adams GT Tight Lies 5 wood that is butt ugly--- I call it the Ugly Duckling. My signature is constantly changing between all the clubs I own but the constant is the old school Mac blades , that Adams 16 and that Homna driver

Yeah I really need to stick with these and get used to them. I've never had a 14 club bag so we will see how it works. So far the hybrid gaps have been good, but time will tell. I went the hybrid route as I don't get to play as much as I used to and Father Time is catching up with me, so I need all the help I can get.

Marmaduk yes what I have found so far is that the 3 degree gaps equals 10-12 yards for me. Only time will tell so I'm gonna see how it goes for the foreseeable future.
