PM Permission Problem

Is anyone else having issues sending PM's in the BST? When I got to "Start Conversation", a page saying "Permission Problem" comes up. Just wondering what I can do to fix this. Thanks

As I understand it you don't have enough posts to be able to send PM's. You need 5 and you only have 1.

Where can I find the rule for this 5 posts? I only see the 75 posts for posting an ad?

I am trying to send a PM and I still dont have access. I have over 5 posts as well, weird.

In the past I have been a frequent purchaser of items in the classified section. Usually I start a conversation with sellers but sending them a PM directly. Now, when I go to "Start Conversation" by clicking on the the sellers username, I am directed to a page that says "Permission problem... you don't have permission to do that". I am just trying to start a conversation to see if a transaction with the seller can be agreed upon. Please advise on how I should go about getting the right permissions in order to send sellers messages? Do I need to pay for permission? I am not sure why the site is making it difficult for buyers and sellers to connect and agree to transact.

What if you are not selling on the site. How are you supposed to get the 5 posts necessary? Do you need to pay so send messages?

I'm having the same issue, seems kind of strange to limit DMs for new users. And even worse UX when you tell a user "You don't have permission to do that!"

Why? If you read in the DND folder and in the BST Dispute folder there are numerous discussions in which just registered users trying to do scams via DM's.

I mean, you can still scam by just replying to 5 posts, no? It's more about the poor messaging when you try to DM someone as a new user, not the post limit. I have a bad permission? That makes no sense. "Hey, you're new here, you need to make 5 posts before you can DM someone!" would be much clearer.

Having the same problem even though I've bought in the past and DM'd other users in order to do so. To be honest, if the 5 post minimum is something rather new that was implemented, introducing it to existing users like this is a rather awful end-user experience for us.

Is it all that much bother to make a few posts here and there to enable you send DM's? This is a large golf forum with thousands of different topics to post on so there must be some thread you could respond in.

All I'm saying is as far as a user experience goes, grandfathering in that limit was a better idea. But doesn't matter. Not my design.

My garbage reply above complaining on the matter got me to my 5th post so I guess I've achieved what the mods are encouraging. Annoying nonetheless
