Toot your Horn (What went great today)

I feel like we all need a bit of positivity when it comes to this game that so often leaves us humbled and bare.

So, what did you do great today?

I did a spectacular job of getting rid of most of my used club inventory.

Watched YouTube like a champ!

Shot a 77 from 7000+ yard with better than average players. Usually get super nervous when I play with plus-cappers.

Considering we've already broke about 37 records for cold and snow here in beautiful NW Illinois I did do a great job of waxing my golf bag.

I had a lunch date with a beautiful woman.

This weekend, I kept a great mental attitude and just had fun playing golf.

This summer, I took the game way too seriously and my game suffered because of it. This changed after I took a trip to Bandon with my wife's company and played with their group and everybody just wanted to have fun. No talking about swings, mistakes, course strategy, etc. It was just all about the walk, companionship, and chasing after the white ball. They were all sticks too who had played tournament golf, worked at courses, owned a golf resort, etc (handicaps probably +'s to 5's). If they didn't take it too serious, why should I?

I decided after that trip that I was just going to have fun when I played golf. Amazing what a simple conscious decision can do to your golf game. I play free, hit better shots, and enjoy my time out there way more.

Daughter was up yacking all night, managed to not get any on me, so that was cool.

I have done a great job following doctors orders laying on my side 45/50 minutes every hour after my second retinal detachment surgery in 3 months binging on Netflix and Amazon Prime and surfing the web. Big day tomorrow I get to a do the same thing tomorrow but sitting up like a normal person for the first time in 2 weeks.

My wife didn't get laid off from her job! Hooray!

I will say, the time my wife got laid off it led her to her dream job. So food for thought should that actually come to pass.

It snowed.......nothing went great today.

On Saturday, I went from "Why do I play this game?" to "Oh yeah, I'm in for tomorrow" over the course of 4 hours. I was +8 thru 8 holes, then -4 over the last 10 holes. A smooth 43-33. So, that was positive.

Depends on the perspective, if I offered the opportunity to see snow to my 5-year old she’d give you everything she owned of value for the opportunity.

Come on up to Minnesota! The city I live in does a great Christmas lights festival and I manage a hotel, I'll give you a steal of a deal!

Good perspective for sure. Regardless what might happen, I am always confident that we will be ok in the long run. We are both talented and driven people with solid professional histories.

Shot a 73 as my last round that I can post to bring my handicap down to a 6.5 was a 13 at the start of 2017!

I might actually take you up on that. I have a cousin who moved up there a year ago and we have talked about visiting and exploring Minnesota.

I held down the chair at my office and did a pretty good job of staying out of the cold. So, that’s always a positive.

Bought my co-worker lunch as it was taco salad day and followed that up with 3-4 courtesy flushes shortly thereafter.

The cart girl was flirty and a gust of wind lifted her golf skirt ever so slightly.

What went well last weekend? Putting. I only 3 putted once but, that was me not caring / feeling the effects of a good bloody mary. Chipping out of wet bunkers too. I'm horrendous at it but, it went well.

Broke 80 for the first time after only picking up the game in February.

+7 on the front and +1 on the back for a 78. Course par is 70 but still, I’m happy with it.

What a fantastic feeling when everything is synced up and working. That also included a double and a triple in there so a lot of room for improvement.

What a day!

Hit 15+ straight chips off tight, grainy, bermuda without chilli dipping a single one.

Had a revelation in regards to my tempo today.

When I pull hard back on the takeaway and almost feel like I “pre-load” the shaft it’s easier to actualize the speed I have been building with SuperSpeed golf. Ironically, being aggressive at the beginning helps me relax in the transition before I get aggressive again on the downswing.
