Which Jones Bag to get?

I want one but not sure which model provides what I need. FWIW, I want this for about 9-10 clubs at most and the smaller the better. I want a one-strap carry bag, not a stand bag (I have 3 now) but need space for a rainsuit. I'd love to just go 'old school' with their basic model but not sure it will accomodate the rainsuit. The website is a bit vague actually.

Please advise......thanks, John

Players series is good and affordable. Check out Seamus Fescuse Sunday golf bag. There is a cinch close pocket for their standard speaker, but can also be used for layering or anything else. Its a wax canvass with some leather I believe. Seamus is very pricey, almost the same price as mackenzie but its perfect for 9-12 clubs and has 4 great pockets. That being I said I do no have one but am looking at Jones, Mac and a Seamus. Seamus gof bags are hard to find on golfwrx. I heard one of the cons is the strap and is nothing compared to a Mac or even the Jones. There is a product to improve the Seamus strap. Hope this helps.

I've all but decided to get the Players Series in Heather Gray; too beautiful and has exactly what I need....and nothing more. However, after reading your comment, I might rethink it; would be good to carry an umbrella I think. Problem is that I NEVER walk and have only just started...trying to figure out this new perspective. Or maybe I can just figure out some sort of 'hack' to securing it to the bag.

If they had the Original Bag in that Heather Gray, it would already be ordered!

I think I remember a user posting about the Players bleeding onto their shirt when it got wet... I can confirm the Original will not do that and will be able to hold plenty of gear, BUT it is unstructured. I thought I remember it having and external umbrella loop, but I could be wrong. I carried 13 with no problem in the Original, the Players series is a better looking bag IMO but sounds like the Original may suit your needs better here. Linksoul also has a pretty nice Sunday bag... may be worth looking into.

Thanks for that. I believe the Original is the way to go. I looked at Linksoul and dig their stuff but not that bag; really want a single strap. I read an article online that said Jones is doing a 40% off sale so the price is really attractive over the competition. McKenzie and Seamus are WAY out of my league and being a high handicapper, I don't want to 'invest' that kind of money. However, I do want something a bit out of the norm (titleist, callaway et al) so the Jones looks like it hits the mark!

Now just have to pick a color ;)

Did you ever consider the Utility Rover? Not quite the classic look of a Players or Original, but another option with a spine, which was important to me. Nylon material as opposed to the Polyester of the Players. Can go double strap or single, I do single. I just got back from taking mine to Bandon and had no issues. Has a nice variety of pockets and a belly style pocket to hold rain gear, jacket, etc.

Yes it was only $60 because i bought it during the blind sale. You just pick the style bag and they send you one, you didnt pick a color or anything. Some people got ones with names on it or other random logos like my feather or some were just plain bags you didnt know what you were getting until it arrived. Luckily i got a good one, there was a whole thread on here about the blind sale like 2 years back there was some funny ones that people got.

I have three Jones bags, Original in Grey, Players in Navy, and Utility Rover. I do enjoy the original the most for comfort. I enjoy them all, but my recommendation is the Original.

Well, if the bag is everything I’m told, they’ll have a customer for life. We are leaving town and I’ll be hunting in West Texas when the sale starts so they allowed me to buy with the discount! Can’t believe they bent the rule. I manage a country club and I try to train staff so that they can make one-off decisions on the fly.....just like this. Outstanding CS with all my questions too; and I had a bunch.

Happy Thanksgiving y’all
