Odd box when quoting has popped up and TYPING LAG.

Things were normal then just now I was going to quote something and I get this giant box with a quote floating in the middle - never had this look before. Way out of proportion.

Wasn't that the name of Goldfinger's henchman? LOL. New editor just got installed about an hour ago. The "Odd Box" replaces the long inline text with all the greater than signs within the comment box. It's better. Trust in Vanilla. They are just plain good.

HaHa - Odd Job! I'll restrain myself from further comment to avoid getting into trouble on your play on it, lol.

In addition to the new box, there is a pronounced lag between my typing and when it appears on the screen - I guess I'll just say it is "odd".

Which browser and OS? No lag on IOS and safari.

Major lag tonight

MacBook Pro and Safari and there is definitely lag. Then the occasional backspace to correct something and it just keeps going until it decides to stop deleting text. Wonky and very different. I type pretty fast and and can just sit and watch an entire four letter word come out after . . . . . lol, just lost several words trying a simple backspace to correct a typo. Never had these issues before, but not making them up. ;-)

Edit: just went back to a thread and typed and could wait for three words to appear, lol, will leave and try again tomorrow.

So we lost the ability to preview our post with this new editor before actually hitting Post Comment?

Typing lag is still evident this morning and yes, apparently no post preview - what the heck.

Also with the new quote windows, if you are typing a response and quoting, the little drop down doesn't work when you are quoting and typing a response, so if the quote has been condensed (DUMB) you can't even read the entire quote you are responding to. Kind of defeats the purpose of intelligently responding to a post you are quoting.

Lemme guess, you will not have post preview anymore and you WILL like it.

We are being asked the purpose of post preview if the editor provide what you see is what you get.

Can the purpose be explained?

Yeah I’ve seen lag too. And really odd auto correct. It actually misspells words.

Typing lag right now. At least one word and sometimes 2 or 3 behind my typing. Very annoying.

Safari Version 11.1.2 (11605.3.8.1) on a MacBook Pro

Same on Firefox (latest version).

Just tried a post in a thread and now this one - still annoying lag. Nothing out of date about how I access, same way I've been accessing forever. I certainly won't use anything other than Safari.

Needs fixing, hope somebody figures it out, but it obviously started with this n (left off there because when I tried to backspace to correct a typo it went backwards over halfway across the page again and that's where it stopped).

Signed out and signed back in, no difference.

Is there a lag in another browser or device?

I get the same thing. And when I respond there is a typing "lag" as well. No difference when I log out and log back in. I have a MacBook using Safari.

We are trying to establish which browsers and OS are having issues. We do not see this issue on IOS devices.

It happens to me on Android using Opera. It seems to be associated with the draft save. Every time I get lag it is when the draft save message shows up. It has always been this way even with the previous editor. I don't really see it at other times unless the thread is especially long. Not sure why that would matter, but I have seen some degree of correlation.

Having horrible typing lag here, too. MacBook Air, Safari Version 12.1.2 (12607.3.10).

Replying from older Mac book Pro 15 running Catalina on Chrome. No lag or editor issue seen.

Macbook Pro 15 typing in Safari, I do see a lag but no spelling issue.

The Vanilla "rich editor" has evidenced lag in other forums where it was tried as well. It is most apparent when (for example) you hold down the left or right arrow key to scroll to another spot on a line of text. Why, I do not know but it is obviously imposing some sort of overhead either on the user's PC or on the network connection.

I did not like it at all in the other forum where it was used. The user community there was less than enthused with it and found it confusing and somewhat erratic in its behavior (the proper use of the paragraph function seemed especially hard to grasp), which probably contributed to that decision. Eventually they abandoned it for reasons that I do not know.
