'One OEM for the bag' game. 2019 editi

Cons

Recommended Posts

A tried and true forum topic! I haven't seen one lately. If anyone has a recent one of these please send me the link and I'll delete. Otherwise....

You need to make your entire bag from 1 manufacturer. If they make it, your using it. If they don't make it, you can sub. Why and what category do you like the least? Lets try to keep it for current product lines.

For instance, I'll take Cobra.

Their drivers have gotten so good! F9 10.5

I love how shallow and compact their fairways are. I'll take F9 3w and 5w.

Their players irons have been underrated for years. Minimal offset and perfect lines. King CB/MB 3-P please.

Not a lot of selection with the wedges, which is why this is my least favorite category. Trusty rusty raw needs to make a comeback in 2020! King wedges 52, 58

They don't make putters so I'm sticking with my oldie. Odyssey Protype 2.

No ball either, I'll take Bridgestone Tour B XS

p.s.- I'm not wearing the Puma hi tops.

Go!

It'd be down to Ping, Callaway and Mizuno for me. If I actually had to game the bag, I'd go with Ping because while I like Mizuno irons and Callaway putters the most, I only hit those marginally better than Ping irons and putters while I hit the Ping woods a lot better than either Mizuno or Callaway.

I've never played a Callaway club but I like the looks of all offerings currently. Same for Ping at the moment. My bag is mostly Wilson Staff and TEE is that weird? I think I could play a whole bag of TEE. EXS, CBX woods/blades/wedges and a Glod putter.

I could go full up with just about any of the major oem’s and be just fine. That stated, if I had to pick one, I’m going PING. G410 driver, 3-wood, 3/4 hybrids and 5-U. Glide wedges and Ketsch putter.

I’m perfectly happy with my M4 driver thru 4 hybrid. I’d go fitted 790, hi toe wedges and a spider.

The new Cobra woods could make this a closer battle.... but would have to be Callaway.

Epic flash SZ woods are strong, driving iron is ok but I would probably just go straight Apex Pro 3i anyway, blades are bladey (call me crazy but I actually love the look of the new protos), and the wedges match my eye. Coulda been Ping if they tweak that forged wedge just a little bit.

Also sure I could find something between the Odyssey/Toulon lines.

Travis Matthew/Cuater apparel is solid especially with the new shoe putting them firmly on the soft-good map!

Cobra ALL DAY LONG....they’ve been underrated for years and everyone’s finally realizing how good they are. However, if money was not required I’d go the PXG route as I’ve had great success with their XF and 0211 irons

Everyone has a big time driver, and everyone has a beautiful blade. So to me it comes down to aesthetics of fairways, wedges, and putter.

I think it has to be Titleist this year. Top to bottom everything is classic, yet modern. Then they went and fucked it up with the SM8, but that’s an issue for 2020.

I'd probably have to go with Mizuno, despite having never hit a Mizuno driver or fairway. Worst case scenario; I know I'd dig the MP-20s.

I just did an iron fitting and picked Taylormade 760s so i'd fill out the bag from there. I already play a high toe lob, but like the look of the MG2 wedges for gap and sand. I play a TS3 driver now but that barely beat out an M5 so that is an easy switch. Plenty of options in fairway and hybrids but I'll try an m5 3 wood and gapr mid 3 hybrid. Then maybe a Juno putter, have never liked a spider when rolling them in the store.

I have a very mixed bag now (5-6 brands depending). I could happily go 1 OEM for Titleist, Taylormade, Callaway, or Ping (likely PXG too, just no experience with them) None of which are my current irons (Srixon)

Bottom line, the gear today is great! Put my first Callaway club ever in my bag this year and it was the seasons stand out favourite (Flash 3w)

I’d go with Ping if I had to only go with one OEM.

They seem to have something I like for every place in my bag.

My least favorite offering from them is their irons, although that has improved the past couple of years.
