Alphard eWheels V2 coming

Oh no! I just bought mine last month and was thinking that it would be great if it could follow me around with some sort of Bluetooth link. I wonder if they'll have a way to upgrade...I hope.

Any idea when this will be released, no info on that website?

On the Facebook page they said were looking at February 2020 to launch the campaign and April for delivery to the early/first backers.

Can anyone confirm that the "follow me" feature involves a tether and it's not completely wireless?

That does seem weird. Either way, after using my V1 eWheels since launch, I'm not at all convinced a follow-me mode is of much practical use. Too many obstacles to avoid etc, plus I like sending it ahead to the next hole etc. Really excited about the gyroscope in V2 though - the biggest problem with V1 is the constant course correction required...

Agree. I wouldn't consider using the follow feature. I want to be able to see the cart at all times. The game itself takes enough concentration, I don't need extra distractions.

I have a Stewart Golf X9 Follow cart and the follow feature is definitely a plus. There are scenarios when it is better for the cart to be ahead but I have it following me for most of my rounds. If it is implemented well - it actually reduces the distractions as you don’t have to spend time steering.

Has anyone tried these in super wet conditions? I know it says 100% rainproof on the website, but there's a difference between a regular sprinkle, and a coastal monsoon. I'm thinking of this for Bandon trips, where the occasional monsoon is routine.

It's a tank IMO. Texas rain storms don't bother it. Wife of a buddy, drove hers into lake. They fished it out, let it dry out, and it runs fine now.

The designer explained the corded tether in a posting on FB. Says that they experimented with multiple methods of wireless and could not get the type of accurate tethering they wanted out of it. The cord makes it more accurate and responsive - which would make sense. Since the entire unit is an add-on which sits behind the bag - it would have little or no sensors to track movement. This unit costs significantly less than any other unit with tracking.

I do agree that it is a bit weird... but I might feel a little bit better about the cart following me around hazards and over bridges and such. I might be interested in trying to just hold the leash as I walk down a fairway.

In any case - between this leash/tether and the new gyro stabilization, this unit would seem to offer those two features at less a third of units offering the same.

My BatCaddy X3R finally bit it, and that unit while nice in some ways, never could track straight. If this unit for under $1000 tracks straight - I'll be happy. Was about to buy the eWheels (now V1) - when I stumbled across this thread and then signed up to be a first adopter. Hope that is sometime in the next few months. Might still buy a version 1 unit if too far down the road and just sell it or give it to my daughter when V2 hits.

The addition of gyro tracking . The addition of a tethering/leash .

Ran across this today. Contacted my brother who has the original eWheels and he loves his set up (TourTrek 360 cart + eWheels). I plopped my $1 down. Now I need to pick a push cart to use with this thing. Brother says make sure to get a cart that does not have a fixed front wheel. I was waiting for the ClicGear 4 to come out this month but it has a fixed front wheel. Does anyone have any thoughts on fixed vs. rotating front wheel with this thing?

Unless you want to do circles all the time, it's no big deal. Go read other thread for further info on fixed vs non-fixed.

If your thinking of purchasing the newest version with the gyro tracking feature then IMO opt for non fixed front wheels.

I agree with this. I have the V1 on a CG 3.5+ and the fixed front wheel isn't that big of an issue for me. But if I get the V2 I will be looking for a new push cart with a swivel front wheel because it makes sense to me to have it with the gyro tracking (and I think it is required or strongly recommended by Alphard Golf).

For those wanting a swivel cart, Alphard has said they will have a limited number of swivel carts available for purchase if you're buying a V2 for $99-- these are of similar design (and same manufacturer) of the Caddytek swivel--- but they come with no back wheels and mount in place for the eWheels (and that cuts the cost with no back wheels or brake). I don't know if they have said this will be a test run, or something they are just going to have in limited quantities for initial V2 buyers - or if down the road, it will be a regular item.

As an update, I am now the proud owner of a Rovic RV1S (rotating front wheel). I am taking it out on it's inaugural round in about two hours. I love the way this thing is built. I've already done a little tinkering - moving the umbrella holder clip and adding another Clicgear mounting point in its place. I have a Bag Boy accessory bag coming that will attach under the push handle for a little extra soft storage space. I believe it will fit based on other's reviews and the layout of the attachment points.

Now patiently awaiting Feb 4 so I can order the V2.

Did anyone ever get/use the 3.5 retrofit kit, that took the rear wheels from a Clicgear 3.5 and used them to make a swivel front end? It looks like they're offering that kit with the V2, wanted to see if it's worth it.

Based upon the info from Alex and the testers, I think the retrofit is necessary for the V2. I ordered it with the V2 and hoping that the retrofit with gyroscopes will let this track straighter than the fixed wheel version I am using with the V1.

I ordered the retrofit kit as well. I love my 3.5 too much to not give it a try. The thing is a tank and I love the tour bag kit that puts everything more upright, and that's not available on the RV1S. I just hope the 3.5 works well with the swivel kit, seems like they put a lot of thought and time into a solution.

Are you still able to reserve it for $1 on the indiegogo site?

No. The $1 was to get you early entry and a slightly bigger discount initially. That discount is now gone, and the campaign went live yesterday on indigogo, so you can't get in early now. But you can still get the cart for cheaper than it will be at release (significantly) - and if you get on the campaign now, you should still get your unit in the first couple months of when they ship (April/May). Plus, it was announced today, that if they hit $250k, then every indigogo backer will get free wheelie bars too, which is worth $40.
