best TM driver on distance since 2015 : 2016 M2 ?

I think they are all pretty identical with a similar weight configuration, loft and shaft.

Crossfield just did a test and the M2 was as long as anything new nowadays.

Haven’t noticed any significant increase since 2016 release.

Last week I played two rounds with a side-by-side comparison of my trusty M2 and an Epic Flash that had been fitted to my specs. I have returned the Flash and the M2 is still my gamer because the M2 was as good and, on occasion, better than the Epic Flash. Plus the Flash sound is not wonderful.

Yeah many don't like him but Crossfield just tested drivers from 2004 to 2020 and he was within 10 yards with each.

The other guy was within 10 as well and the longest was 2014 GBB.

The M2 was at the top the for both though for sure.

Love my 2016 m2. Tried to knock it out with a m4 and couldn't do it. Didn't bother trying the m6

Love that about Mark. He didn't care that his TS3 wasn't at the top. He knows it's all down to strike. M2 is a good driver and continues to be.

COR has been maxed out for ages. Certain head/shaft combos work better for certain swings. On a solid strike no, the 2016 M2 is not longer than newer drivers. It's not shorter either.

It's still in my bag after quite a few attempts to replace it. I even have a near mint 2016 M1 in the backup bag. Both are great drivers.

The primary difference is going to be forgiveness, which will equal longer AVERAGE distance across many hits if you are someone that is not on or around the sweet spot all the time. If you're a solid striker, the 2016 M2 will be as long as anything, as will pretty much all modern drivers of the correct spec for you. The further you stray from the sweet spot, the more drivers like the M6 or M5 in its more forgiving configurations are going to help.

I absolutely love my 2017 M2 it will take a lot to knock it out of the bag. I had the 2016 before that and it was great too I just prefer the louder sounds actually and the curved white crown suits my eye better.

The '16 m2 is as long as anything ever will be, I sold my buddy my 10.5* head but still have my 12* HL which is great with loft turned down

The one interesting thing with the original m2 is that 1, 2 or 3x a round you get a drive that goes 15-25 yards farther than normal. Same with all my buddies. Unreal head on certain strikes

I've got a 2016 M2 I am selling in great condition...I switched to the Callaway Rogue last year and haven't gone back.

Couldn't agree more with this comment. The my old 16M2 8.5 head always has 1-3 drives a round that go much further than they should. It is by FAR the longest head I've ever used.

However, my current M5 head is more consistent and straighter. It also happens to be the best feeling/sounding driver I've ever played. The M2 just has that extra gear on occasion which is difficult to explain/justify... but I can assure you it is there.

The funny thing is the m2 has a massive footprint when you go back to it after using a g400LST, it never looked huge for the two years I used it

IMO this is related to MOI. The forgiveness race of the last few years means that those hot, high toe shots aren't as explosive. The 2016 M2 would be considered medium in terms of forgiveness which means a greater amount spin reduction on higher strikes. Catch one just right with a good upward strike and you can send the ball to the moon with very little spin.

Rahm pulled out the 2017 M2 at the Ryder Cup after playing the M3. I'm still playing the 2017 M2. May upgrade to the M5 once the price drops but I think that M2 is pretty hard to beat.

The 2016 M2 8.5 is the hottest face there is when hit out of center according to Tollbros. The PGA tour changed the way it tested drivers as it was conforming by the original test but would fail the additional test. Supposedly, PGA tour players using it where kindly asked to switch out of it.

Still playing 2017 M2 here and happy with the results.

how high is the 8.5 going? are you playing it at 8.5?

Is this hot spot issue limited to the 8.5? I have a 10.5 that’ll occasionally launch moon shots off the toe.

The OG Epic deserves mention too. It was really long when it came out and is still longer in an LM than anything I've got since ( the F8+ maybe was around the same)

I mean you know it's a good driver when for our WRX trip they paid for us to ship our current driver there to test head to head. I dont believe anyone had done that prior. All 8 of us gained yards with it, some significantly

Come to think of it i owned the LTD pro for years and only hit nirvana spot twice. Could never find it again. but the ball launches high and goes forever. twice. sad. the rest were normal long

Yea, the 8.5 tour issue head is the only one that has the above COR hot spot, as I understand it from Tollbros.

What does longer even mean? Something longer for one person won't be for another. It depends what numbers are optimal for you. Also are we only talking about good strikes? Cuz forgiveness between drivers varies also if you're talking about averages.

What about the M4? I think "Flex Face" was introduced when the M4 and M5 came out. Is Flex Face just a marketing thing or does it really help on slightly off center strikes?
