Ford vs Ferrari

My son and I just saw the movie. Haven't enjoyed a good racing picture so much since Gran Prix (1966). Back in those days, I was too young to drive but read every Road & Track and Car and Driver I could get my hands on. Great automotive writers in those rags. I wonder what Ken Purdy would think of Ford vs Ferrari?

I never got around to seeing that one. Lauda was amazing.

FvF was a good movie. One that is made better in an actual movie theater vs watching at home when its released on streaming or onDemand. Also really enjoyed Rush and the 'Senna' doc on Netflix is also worth a watch. I don't even follow racing but enjoyed all three movies.

Edit: Some additional FvF thoughts. Damon was very good, but I thought Bale stole the show. What an incredible actor. I would love to learn more about Ferrari and their absolute focus on making the best race cars. I found that part really interesting. There is a very good interview on The Ringer podcast (The Big Picture) with the director.

Wife and I went to see it over the weekend. First time in a theatre in a few years for me now (I tend to fall asleep anytime I watch TV so why pay to take a nap?) and I stayed awake through the whole movie! Awesome presentation and loved the story. Probably a little long for my taste, but very good show.

So Netflix made a companion documentary to this which was pretty good. I haven't seen the actual film yet but will do at some point.

Really good movie, they strayed from the facts here and there but overall it was really good. Acting all around was really good but bale was phenomenal.

My wife and 7 y/o son went to see it yesterday (I was working) and they both thought it was great. My wife is not a car person and I didn’t think for a second my son was gonna sit through a 2.5 hour movie but they both really enjoyed it.

I haven’t seen it. But I will soon. And I’m not one who goes to a-lot of movies . this is one of my favorite car stories of all time.

I have always loved the look on a Ferrari collectors face when Shelby or the GT40 are mentioned. It’s priceless.

I went opening weekend and saw it at IMAX. I loved the movie, I think the IMAX surround sound helped with the experience. I had not been to the movie for "me" in a long time as I have 2 kids and it's usually for them.

I even went alone and didn't care, there were at least 12 guys there solo as well.

Best part was when HF II took the ride with Shelby in the GT40. Laughed my butt off. People just don't understand what racing really is.

I had low expectations of this movie going in, but both me and the wife loved it

Had heard a bunch of good things about it but its hard to drag me to a movie nowadays. The gf managed to get me to go and glad I did, and agree with anyone that says Bale stole the show. Loved him and his character. I was in Philly a handful of years ago and me and a buddy went to some automotive museum and I remember seeing a lot of the cars or similar cars to what was in the movie.

On a side note, saw the preview for 1917 and thought that looked amazing!!

Same, I left there thinking it was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Especially the best non-superhero movie.

We had a chance to go to the Enzo Ferrari museum in Modena, Italy this spring and it was pretty fascinating stuff to see how some of the first engines were built,

I really enjoyed FvF. Some of the racing scenes were filmed right down the road from me at Michelin Raceway at Road Atlanta. The Dunlop bridge at Circuit De La Sarthe was filmed at turn 8 at Road Atlanta. That is where i have been camping for the last 15 years for IMSA Petit Le Mans races. I did find it funny that in the movie, they are actually running opposite direction in those scenes than they do at Road Atlanta. Anyways, great movie!!!

I guess Netflix doesn't carry Rush anymore, so I watched it on YouTube. Thanks for recommending it. I enjoyed it very much.
