I'd try Honma if they offered custom fit?

I recently had a fitting at Club Champion and had the fortunate experience to hit the Honma XP-1 irons. Really, really, nice feel.

I didn't order from CC because they actually recommended something else, which I did purchase and have yet to play. While the recommended iron did perform well on that particular day, what I am currently using is performing better for me in front of my Skytrak.

At any rate, I've considered purchasing the XP-1's but realized that there is no one that can make a couple of simple adjustments - club length and lie angle. I even sent an email to Honma and have yet to receive a reply. Come on, how serious can they be about moving into the North American market if they can't provide these minor adjustments.

Actually, when I had a fitting at Club Champion, they had Honma clubs and I had the opportunity to put a few swings on it (the xp-1 irons). They were the best feeling clubs that I hit, but on that particular day they did not perform as well as my Apex CF19's. However, I've changed my swing a little bit and I think the results of that fitting may have been less than reliable.

I also noticed that the PGA Superstore carries them. I was in Palm Springs a week or so ago and I had the chance to swing them again. Still felt great and I'm debating...

And I found the Carls Golfland can order them customized for your specs.

If you look at the options for the XP-1, there really are only a couple of shaft choices... since I'm a senior, really only one shaft choice in two different flexes... I'd go senior.

I already know my specs for length and lie, so no need to go to San Diego for that. I may take a flyer on these because I still can't get over how nice they felt.

I just bought an almost new set of 737V at my local Roger Dunn... Modus 120s. My buddy has been playing these for a while now and loves them so I figured I would take a shot with them as they could be the most perfect looking irons down by the ball for my eye yet. Feel is also, like you said OP, incredible. I get the feeling like they are still just getting started at breaking into our market and it is unfortunate that you are having difficulty.... sucks to be so pumped up about a product then have it be such a hassle to get right for you... Hope you can find what you're looking for and give us your thoughts. GL!

Since I posted this, I've found that Carl's Golfland can accept custom orders (length of shaft and lie adjustments).

I visited the PGA Superstore and Roger Dunn in Palm Springs a few weeks ago while vacationing there and had a chance to swing them a few more times and they felt really good. I may just take a chance and order a set because they have left a lasting impression on me. Not sure they will perform any better, but I still can't get over that incredible feel. Just makes you want to swing them better... I call it motivation to improvement.

Which Roger Dunn did you visit?

@jjfcpa the RD in Seal Beach is closest to me... they are fantastic there. If you have any questions, you can call there and ask for Miles or Frankie. Both are always helpful for me.
Had my 737v out today, but using the lighter Modus 120 is going to take a little getting used to... started flushing irons towards the end of the round, feel was great, but the J15s may be a tad better with turf interaction. Going to give them more time, they are beautiful looking irons.

Received my custom Honma XP-1's today. Oh my, these things are amazing. I've been comparing them to my Apex CF19's and they seem genuinely better. I don't have anyway to compare their performance but I'm waiting for the delivery of a launch monitor and then the real testing will begin. However, I can already tell that they suit my swing better than anything I've tried thus far. I've got a few other brands to compare them to and they are just solid.

Example - During the last week, I've been taking 5 - 10 shots and trying to measure how many mishits I get. Typically, 1 or 2 out of 10. I've been going through the entire set of the XP-1's and barely 1 mishit out of 10. I still need to see what the spin and distance numbers are, but for the most part these just feel really, really good. I've gotten new clubs in the past... perhaps more than I want to admit, but none of them have me as excited as these. I wish it was spring.

I really liked the 727P and was going to try the new ones but was foolishly put off by the made in China stuff that they sort of down play in advertising. Just bothered me for some reason.
