Shorts on Tour

Just spotted this on Twitter...shorts are finally legit during an actual event. Their being OK in Pro-Am’s seemed to pass quickly from the Euro Tour to the PGA Tour, I wonder if we will have the same thing here...

I think it should be allowed for most events where weather consistently exceeds 90*.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the more veteran players still opt for pants, these guys get so much sun exposure melanoma is serious concern.

10 years from now I hope we see tour players strolling down the fairways of Augusta wearing shorts with their shirts untucked, reading greens without books and getting their yardages with a bushnell. Heck, let'em take carts to speed up play. Ok... maybe no carts but lets get with the times a little bit. It's not 1960 anymore.

Untucking your shirt is "getting with the times"? I agree with everything else like range finders and greens books, but preserving some semblance of class at the highest level would be nice.

"Class" isn't the word that comes to mind when I see a polo shirt tucked into a pair of shorts. "Dufus" is more like it.

Well you either where pants or dont play private courses. Most nice course require shirts to be tucked in as it is proper.

yes for shorts on tour. who cares, they aint doing my taxes. And as far as "proper golf" attire, pfft! so many other things to worry about than checking to see if a shirt is tucked. I do draw the line at jorts.

I am completely aware of that. However, just because it is required by a club doesn't make it classy.

A polo shirt tucked into shorts looks much more stupid. Where else do you see people tucking shirts into shorts? Do you tuck your shirt into your shorts while at the gym? Do your friends call you Urkel?

Nah, what looks stupid is when someone is untucked and flashes their beer belly to the world in there follow through.

It looks like a caddies tournament. In my opinion its horrible and I really hope this is a one-off.

The European Tour is in South Africa this week playing the Alfred Dunhill Championship . The temperatures are hovering around 100, so the players are allowed to wear shorts.

It seems most are taking advantage of it.

In that kind of heat I don't know wny a player wouldn't take advantage of it. The impact of comfort and fatigue is hard to measure but has to be worth something.

I think people should dress "up" for work. It just looks more professional. If you're playing a game for a pay that reaches into the millions of dollars, it's the least you can do.

Why worry about those issues then? Why not have your accountant show up in shorts and slides to do your taxes? Why draw the line at jorts?

Agree. I woke up to see that and started my day off with a curse word. Lol.

They will have to do something for shirts if this stays. Polos tucked into shorts are possibly the ugliest thing on a guy I’ve ever seen. Relatively speaking of course. Maybe go to tank tops ? lol. Looks like a work scramble on TV. Turrible.

That's why my golf shirts are untucked with cargo shorts but ALWAYS tucked in when I wear jeans.
