Titleist Custom Order

Depends on what you asked them to do - swingweght values are based on a standard size grip.

D2 with a standard grip vs D2 with a midsize are two very different things. You would just be tricking the scale to swingweight with the midsize grip.

If you didn't ask them to adjust anything I'd be surprised if they did.

I'd be pretty specific in asking them what I wanted i.e. D2 swingweight with a midsize grip, rather than just swingweight of D2

Hope that makes sense.

WanLefty already gave you a good explanation, but i like to add that SW values is NOT something we should use as target, they should be the result of a actual fitting first, so i have to ask, was you fitted to play this club head, with this shaft, AND the actual grip and a SW value of D2`?

if not you might be asking for something that becomes way to heavy since TOTAL weight is more important than SW values. There is also large varieties to grip weights when we look at MID size options. Some is equal to standard, or only a few grams extra, others can be 10 grams above, but non of them changes ACTUAL head weight, so make sure you know what you ask for before you place your order.

So will they adjust the swingweight that the midsize grip alters?

Or will they all come in at ~C8?

Swingweight can not be requested from them. But will they attempt to get back to "Stockish" D2 specs?

Not looking for guaranteed specs. I understand custom builds. I understand tolerances.

Just wondering if they will try at all or not even care.

If someone who has ordered from Titleist with midsize grips has the answer, that would be awesome

I have custom ordered wedges and a driver from Titleist. I can confirm they hit my specs spot on, including SW. I play my driver at 44.5" EOG, and wedges at D5. Obviously a bit odd, but they have always had them spot on for me. I say EOG because I have noticed, their measuring was different from TM that I have previously used, which I understand is common to have them be different. No big deal, so I just ensure I specify all specs and for length ask for EOG.

MCC+4 MID is a heavy beast of 66 grams, and 1/4" is minus 1.5 SWP...so i understand the question, but if Titleist can handle that is something only they can answer.

I know Mizuno offers delivery with grips loose in the box, that gives you the option to add tungsten powder and cock to male them as you want them before you add grips on, may be Titleist offers the same?

I just ordered a set of T100's and requested D6 or as heavy as possible with a standard grip. They couldn't promise anything, but they were able to get them to D4 to my surprise, so they try, just can't promise anything which sucks.

He might save 6 grams at the best.

1 layer of 0.015 BU tape is 2 grams, and 4 layers is 8, so that saves him 6 grams at the best since standard MCC+4 is 52 as start weight, but feel want be the same.

If he used the regular MCC and Asymmetrical BU tape, we want make it either since that would be 46.5 +8 grams to MID + 4.5 grams asymmetrical BU = 60 grams..still only 6 grams down

If he started from MCC MID of 59 grams and added Asymmetrical BU tape of 4.5 grams we get to 63.5...
