BST non shipment after 4 days (Seller jrolsen0425)

Looking for opinions, purchased an item last Wednesday on BST forum. Sent funds immediately via PayPal and communicated with seller, being advised item would ship first thing Friday am. No issue with that given the holiday. Friday am usps label was created and now Monday night USPS is still awaiting item. Sent seller 2 messages requesting update & silence in return. However they were active on WRX numerous times today and have been a member for almost 10 years with substantial posts. I get s*** happens but all I’m asking is an update. Give them another day and see if usps receives it? Overreacting? All I want is some communication, don’t think it’s too much to ask.

Just a heads up that sometimes USPS doesn’t scan the package in right when you drop it off if the you bring the package in all boxed up with postage already on it, so the tracking could stay that way and then all of a sudden show up on time. Lately when selling I ask them to scan that they’ve received it when I drop it off.

seller also may not have an update, so might be holding your update so he can just reply to you one time with tracking. Wouldn’t panic yet, but I’d expect an update COB tomorrow saying it’s been shipped.

Give it another day or two before getting too anxious. Maybe they didn't notice the new message? I agree poor form not responding, as it takes a couple seconds, but it was a holiday recently. Sometimes the best laid plans take a backseat during the hustle and bustle of family obligations during the holidays. I wouldn't be surprised if the item were dropped off and not checked in by the USPS. Maybe the seller assumed providing you with a tracking number would be the last time he needed to check on his messages for a few days, until he checks back to make sure you got the item safe and sound?

I'm not sure, but I can imagine lots of reasonable excuses for not getting the item out, or not responding to messages, over the past couple days. This isn't retail, people have lives and some aren't as considerate as they should be. Be patient and give it a couple days before considering filing a dispute with PayPal. Maybe send a polite, non-inflammatory reminder to give you an update with a casual "deadline" for some update, whether it be him communicating with you or the tracking showing movement. If you've paid with PayPal for goods and services, you have no reason to worry.

I get it sh#% happens and can’t always get items out when guys say they will but what I don’t get is when messages are sent back especially when a seller has been active numerous times . Seriously takes 5 seconds to respond to a pm

2 - Although I will say its happened to me twice in the last few months that I drop off a package and it manages to be "on its way" without ever getting an initial scan. I shipped something from VA to Seattle recently that showed as "label created" for 2-3 days. Then suddenly when it arrives in Seattle its scanned and everything is updated - and on top of that it arrived a day earlier than originally scheduled. No idea how that happens. Over...600 transactions or so, I'd say that has happened a dozen times.

3 - 1 and 2 aside - if there's a time I'm going to chill out its around the holidays. Especially if its a longtime member. I'm not saying its right. I'm not saying #1 doesnt apply - and if you've seen any of my posts on this subject you know how much I loathe non communication.

Yeah this is the time of the year even Amazon Prime can't keep their delivery promises, and it doesn't even have any family obligations. .... cut people some slack especially if it's a long time member.

I’m in the minority, maybe even alone on this but I don’t like the “this isn’t retail” “people have lives” charade. If you engage in commerce with another person, it is a transaction a la retail. Also, we all have lives. I have an often non-club ho sympathetic wife and two kids under 5. I have shipped out every single item out of hundreds (plural) that I’ve ever sold, on eBay or any other forum within 2 days (Monday through Saturday). Ever. If you can’t do that then don’t sell.

It happens both ways. I've sold a couple things this past week and 2 of them were dropped off yesterday at noon...and tracking still shows "awaiting pre-shipment". I'm not nervous (yet) about the non-updates, but come the end of the week if they aren't to their destination I'll start to worry.

I personally feel like USPS's service in general has been on a steady decline the past few years, especially for those of us that primarily use it for shipping and tracking golf clubs. But I have to give them a little bit of a pass this time of the year if their tracking and service isn't spot on. I mean, if they're usually a "C", I'm not going to expect an "A" during the holidays. I'm just happy when my things get where they're going in one piece, and no one steals it when it gets there.

Further update, seller has still yet to ship. Has told me 3 different dates it shipped and the post office has confirmed that nothing other than a shipping label was created online. I've PM'd him giving him one last chance to provide proof of shipment before I expose him to the community here.

I've bought & traded numerous times on here & never any issues. Frustrating with the change to the site we can't provide seller rating & feedback.

Leave a comment on their profile page. I have said this to everyone that will listen. No it is not perfect. No it is not a "feedback system". But its the only workaround I've been able to think of and the more I mention it the more I hope other people will read it and eventually start using it.

three times is way too many. TIme to expose him for the sake of the community. It is all we can do these days.

I am all for giving people some slack during holidays but this is no longer acceptable.

If he can’t ship and communicate, he doesn’t belong on the BST. The time for using the holiday as an excuse has come and gone.

So you're using us as leverage but won't disclose the username so we can avoid them.

It’s been long enough and you’ve been giving the run around Op time to let the community known the seller so this doesn’t happen again in the meantime while your giving him chance after chance

once again, my money is on the “my wife said she shipped it” excuse.

with that being said, why are people so scared to out sellers. What’s the point of starting these threads if you aren’t going to pony up and name them?

What I don't get is if I have a legit emergency and can't ship (only happened once) I took 2 minutes, sent the buyer a message and refund, and told him as soon as I get my issues resolved and know I can ship I will honor the original deal plus cover shipping. Takes next to no time at all and covers both myself and the buyer. Everyone is "soo busy" yet have hours a day to stare at the very screen they use to establish these deals and can't send a simple honest message. Honesty would be appreciated over anything else in all of these issues. I'd much rather a buyer bail and just tell me than lead me on for two weeks.

This. Like I said in my earlier post, some people need to re-examine how they define emergency. I’d call most of them to inconveniences or nuisances, neither of which eliminate one’s ability to honor an agreement. Short of myself or a loved one being in a hospital bed or a morgue, I don’t know what would abdicate me from shipping something within two days.

Interesting that the OP of this thread will not out the seller to protect the field after being repeatedly lied to about his item being shipped. Was he directed not to? The was a very recent issue in the B/S/T where the OP was directed by WRX management to not provide details that could possibly identify the buyer of a B/S/T transaction that went bad. Hmm. Why is that? Somebody being protected? Providing a WRX user name is not disclosing "identifying details" of an individual. Is the same thing happening in this thread? Makes zero sense.

Seller was jrolsen0425. I’ve invited him to this thread to explain after discussion with mods. It did however ship yesterday.

I agree with all the above but I tend to give people benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately for seller he created the situation and it could have easily been prevented with honest communication.

Just to be clear, the only rule we have is to not post personal information (name, address, employee info, ...). We have never prohibited anyone from posting a user ID or other relevant information.

The OP of this topic posted the seller ID after we contacted him requesting the identity of the seller last night.

I was a volunteer mod for about a year and a half (it disappeared suddenly after the software change). In every instance like this the member was instructed to start a thread here and invite the other party to give their side but to not do anything that would give away personal information (like screenshots with full name or PayPal address). Most didn’t (likely for fear of a confrontation or having both sides of the story out) but I never once saw anyone directed not to post the username of the other member in a dispute.

In my opinion, since so many people only use the site for the BST, the fair thing to do is invite the other party from the start, because unless they happen to be browsing the DOND forum, they have no idea they are the subject of a thread

Unless something changed, which I doubt, the person in the other thread either misunderstood or didn’t want the other side involved

This was after he gave into a partial refund demand due to what looks to be a nebulous scratch issue.

just an FYI, placing the @ symbol in front of the username should alert the member to the thread @Jrolsen0425

I'm not sure which mod told him that but it's not SOP. Maybe there was a miscommunication. We leave it up to the involved parties on whether or not to disclose identifying information.

I PM'ed the OP a few days requesting the identity of the buyer. He never responded.

I’m not surprised. Given his pm to me I’m not sure why he even bothered starting the thread
