Fake Scotty Timeless putter

I recently sent a timeless putter in to Scotty to have it authenticity checked, and they originally told me it was fake. When they sent it back there was a card in the box saying that it was originally a Scotty Cameron product but because of the modifications made on it they could not authenticate it. Does anyone have any insight on to what this actually means?

It was a Scotty Cameron putter but has been modified by a third party, ie buffed, stamped, re-milled.

Would it be a circle t or a production model made to look like it?

scotty will not work on any aftermarket work done on their putters unless you originally had it done by them. If you send them a fake, they will not even send it back i think, they def want all the fakes off the market. I knows yours is not fake, but he/they did not do the custom work that yours has and they don't touch it unless they did it

If you have a putter that was refinished, it wouldn’t be difficult to mistake it as counterfeit on an initial glance. Because it could potentially be missing some tell-take markers of a original. If it was refinished/ altered in any way by anyone other than Scotty Cameron, it is no longer a Scotty Cameron (or at least as far as Scotty Cameron is concerned).

Did you send it in to have the authenticity checked, or to have a C.O.A. issued? I can’t imagine why anyone would mail a putter to Scotty to check it’s authenticity. It must have started life as an authentic Scotty, because you got it back (as opposed to them keeping it and telling you tough luck). If you were looking to have authenticity confirmed, you’d probably have been better off asking here.

Sounds like someone modified an original SC putter to look like a tour model in order to make more profit. I would inquire with the seller you bought it from (and name him here if possible). I would only buy a Cirlce T putter with COA (even though I'm sure those can be forged too).

Well he worked at Augusta and got the putter there, I was skeptical from the get go but the putter actually feels extremely good. The pics aren’t great but I don’t have the putter right now

are they telling you that it is not a CT and it is OTR version that someone has altered to make it appear to be a tour putter? What exactly are they saying they think was done to it? It has to be real putter, they sent back. But I am curious to what they say has been done. I personally would say the "timeless" stamp looks aftermarket, but think it did start as a CT and someone added "imeless" behind the ct. JMO

it's 100% fake - that's why. unsure why they would say it was an original Scotty Cameron product. it's a clear aliexpress/dhgate Scotty Cameron. hopefully you didn't pay too much and are able to get it back. that headcover is fake too.

"Works at Augusta" should've been a dead giveaway. I agree with Yanki 100% counterfeit putter. Sorry, man. I could tell from the first pic the shape of bumpers, face milling, neck, everything looked completely wrong. Fake cover too (connected stitching). File a dispute and get your money back. Who is the seller? Good luck.

He is a good friend and I new it was fake, but I know for a fact he worked at Augusta, by what I wanna know is if it’s actually a Scotty putter the thing feels better than any putter I’ve ever used

up to you. it's not authentic that's for sure. personally I wouldn't like putting with a counterfeit putter.

I'm confused. So you got it for free from your friend? Its 100% fake Chinese cast putter, worth nothing. Keep using it if you like the feel but I really hope you weren't thinking of trying to sell it to someone else.

This thread just took a turn. I doubt that Scotty Cameron returned the putter after authenticity, and telling you it was a real Cameron. Then you tell us that you knew it was fake?

Come on guys its a new member and he obviously wanted to test the waters to see if he could sell it without people knowing it was a fake. Thats what a lot of these posts are as the fakes look terrible. If the deal is amazing and you are getting a custom scotty then its a fake! Its from a friend...aka I did a lot of work customizing it to look real I hope I can sell it and make money...oh crap they can still tell nm i will tell my friend to keep it...SURE we believe you.

This is one of the more blatant fishing expeditions I've ever read on this site.

From "why did Cameron send this back to me?" to "I knew it was fake, but it feels great - why?". Something doesn't add up here. Leaning towards the fishing trip.

You said you like, just play it and enjoy it.

Tell your Chinese supplier that they'll have to do better next time.
