Project X Hzrdus Yellow vs Project X Hzrdus Smoke Yellow shafts. Are they the same, or different?

Hey! Just wondering, (and sorry if this is already posted someplace), what is the difference between the PROJECT X HZRDUS Yellow, and the PROJECT X HZRDUS SMOKE YELLOW. (The yellow version, not the straight Smoke.) What, if any, are the differences? What are the launch characteristics, etc....

Again, if this is posted anywhere, please let me know where to find it so we are not re-hashing old news. I have a HZRDUS yellow, but was curious about it since I have now seen a Smoke version.

Thanks in advance!

So, that being said, is this shaft (Smoke Yellow) made for the same "smoother swinger" as the original Hzrdus Yellow? OR, is this for a more aggressive swinger, such as what is needed for the Hzrdus Black? I don't mind the Hzrdus yellow and would look at the Smoke Yellow, if they are similar.

To me, the original yellow felt harsh and I didn't get the "smooth" feel out of it like was claimed. The Smoke Black feels much smoother to me than yellow ever did, but still retains the lower spin flight of black. My guess is smoke yellow is now just the same tech that they put into smoke, but it's CB'ed like the OG yellow. I have not hit the smoke yellow, so it's just a guess. I game a Smoke, and have gamed the other 2 shafts as well... Smoke Black has been one of the best shafts I've ever used, it's on par with the feel and performance of Accra, MCA, etc.

I never bought into the claim they had for aggressive vs smooth with the black and yellow shafts. I had/have an aggressive transition and the black was a terrible shaft for me even in a lesser flex and the red which is a softer tipped black wasn’t any better. The yellow was a much better fit for me. The smoke shafts seem to be better feeling than the original hzrdus line but to say this would be for aggressive or smooth swingers would be hard to say. I would say if anyone isn’t swinging at close to max speed these shafts will let you know quickly how they need some effort

It's absolutely different but is still a mid soft, counter balanced profile. It's smoother and feels more like a blueboard profile. It's nothing like any other Hzrdus shaft, but is closest to the yellow. This may not be an OP issue, but why do people seem to like staying w the same product line like Hzrdus?

Best description I've found:

"Looking at the EI profile of the Project X HZRDUS Smoke Yellow is like meeting an old friend you have not seen in a while. It is in many ways an updated of the Project X Loading Zone shaft. For the right golfer it added ball flight height without adding spin. It was a great fit for negative angle of attacks, a long time issue with my own swing. I was sorry to see it get discontinued, and I am quite happy to see the HZRDUS Smoke Yellow replace the most popular of the various profiles that were in the Loading Zone matrix.

the HZRDUS Smoke Yellow is not a remake of the HZRDUS Yellow, they are different.

The Project X Loading Zone had a number of profiles that varied with the weight of the shaft. The HZRDUS Yellow corresponded to the profile seen in the heaviest models. The HZRDUS Smoke Yellow is like the shafts in the middle weight range. That profile was, in my experience, the real winner in the series.

What I noticed on the Project X Loading Zone was a dip in the hoop deformation where the soft mid zone occurred. This was done with bias plies on the outer wall that were actually visible. When I compared them to the HZRDUS Smoke Yellow what I saw was an overall significantly lower hoop deformation profile. And, just below the grip, a noticeable increase in hoop strenght. I have come to recognize this as a dispersion killer.

What I often see in shafts featured as high balance is extra material in the butt end of the shaft. I have a dim view of the benefits of “high balance” shafts. I can create high balance in many ways when I need to. What I do like are firm handles, especially in that zone just below the grip. I don’t know if it was intentional here, but I know what I am seeing works"

I’m playing the OG Yellow 76gm in 5.5. I have had good success with it, but agree that it lacks feel.

I have an aggressive transition and am wondering if the Yellow Smoke at 63gm and 5.5 might get me a little more height and distance with some feel?
