Spin difference between sets ... how significant?

I've been comparing some clubs that I have sitting around and wondering what the significance of spin difference is between these irons.

The competitors - all 7 irons:

Apex CF19 - 5300's ( 30 degrees loft)

Srixon Z585 - 4600's ( 29 degrees loft)

Rogue X - 4300's ( 27 degrees loft )

Distance wise, they are within about 10 yards of each other. Launch angle, height, and descent angles were also very similar except the Rogue X had a slightly lower launch angle.

Does it really come down to on course performance or based on this would the Apex get the nod because of the higher spin. I know that sometimes, spin differences are negated based on other factors so I'm just wondering if I really need to put each of these in play (come spring) and see which one really provides the best results?

The Rogue X '7 iron' is basically a 6 iron compared to the CF19. Hence the spin and launch difference.

I think the spin number on the Apex is much healthier and will lead to a more stable flight. It’s just a 6 iron and 5300rpm is a solid number for a 6. Sub 5000 not so great. Catch a slightly fluffy lie or some moisture and that’s dropping down to 3000 and going to do some funky things in the air.

Apex is good for spin numbers. I spin my 6 iron (31 degrees) about 5700 and find that optimal.

Before we assume how much the heads contributed, it's good to double check:

Were all hit with the same shaft? Same playing length? Same swing weight? Off the same mat (or all off grass)? with the same ball?

Well, the Srixon is 1 stronger and is known to be a lower spinning head regardless of shaft, and the Rogue X is 3 stronger. Shaft aside the numbers make perfect sense.

Between the Rogue and the Srixon, yes. Between the Srixon and the Apex, even with the c.g. changes, I'll have to disagree.

Actually, the Srixon and Apex all have the same shaft and length. The Rogue X has an even lighter senior shaft.

I've noticed that the smash factor with the Rogue X is higher even though the SS is lower than the other two. go figure.

I should have added. The Srixon is actually the best feeling club. I don't think I've ever played a round with these. I got a deal on them and decided to pick them up and test them out before putting them in play. I subsequently got the Apex and just started playing them.

The Srixon definitely feel best and when I catch them really well, they are the distance leader. I've since tested both the 7i and 5i.

It's not that any of these feel bad, the Rogue X definitely feels a little harsh, but judging them just by feel, the Srixon's are just really soft, and yet, I can tell where my mishit is.

I'm going to do some more testing with some impact tape and see if I'm just hitting the sweet spot more consistently than the others. That's the other thing I've noticed... I will arbitrarily just walk in and hit one shot with each club just to see what kind of performance I get. Kind of like what happens on the course where you just have to pull a club and hit it. The Srixon has felt like I'm hitting it the best, but honestly, I haven't been turning on my Skytrak to see if that is really the fact. More testing required.
