Does the type of wedge effect the type of shaft you need by design?

I recently bought a 2019 Callaway PM grind 56° wedge. I loved the 60° so much that I decided to add a 56°. It arrived late with a bent shaft. I was refunded my money, but not required to return the club. Of course I pulled the shaft and am looking to replace. I want to know how much difference putting on a shaft outside the original specs would make...

I personally have iron shafts in all my wedges except the lob wedge. I prefer to play them like irons. Not doing the lob wedge is partly because DG wedge flex works for that club. But, to answer your question, a different shaft could have different weight, balance point, bend profile, stiffness, etc. So, there could be a big difference. If you're not sensitive to all that stuff and you want to just get it in the bag I'd stick with stock. If you are particular about specs I'd do a wedge fitting and look at numbers.

Focus on weight. Everything else is secondary. Be aware of balance point if you go with a different shaft, as it can change the SW. The bend profile for a wedge shaft is of minimal importance. You mainly need to decide if you want your wedges to retain the same weight as your irons or go heavier.

110% correct. Get the swing weight right around the green. Its (basically) all that matters in a LW shaft.

Why would the lob wedge shaft need to differ from the others?

If you're fitted into your iron shafts, the best place to start is using the same shafts but down one flex. I've also found success going up 1 flex, but soft steeping 2 times.

I certainly appreciate the feedback... I erred on the side of caution... both wedges were KBS High-Rev 2's 115 g, so I stuck with that to replace the bent one... I finally have stopping power and backspin with the PM grind! Very satisfying for me! I've tried many methods and maneuvers to achieve green spin with minimal or even negative results! I don't know why... I am not one of those golfers who think buying new equipment will fix everything, but working this club face seems to finally have solved something that I previously lacked. I feel bad just confessing that! I just got the shafts, and haven't had the opportunity to try the 56° yet... if it can do what the 60° has already done for me, I will be one happy golfer!

Yeah I'd stick with matching shafts since you love the first wedge so much. Big fan of putting iron, not specific wedge shafts, in mine at a slightly lower weight since I don't take full shots with anything above my 54. Imo just get that trajectory how you want it especially to match the courses you play a lot.

PW & GW same as iron shaft; SW & LW target 5 grams heavier shaft weight and one flex softer seems to be one line of thinking in contrast with the same shaft all the way through. I prescribe to the former as SW & LW never see full swings. On my setup I've even increased the swingweight by 4 on the SW & LW about more for additional feel.
