Seeking higher and longer driver ball flight?

My swing speed is about 90, currently using a ping g30 at 10.5 degrees, 4 handicap index. I've tried many methods of increasing my angle of attack but hitting it higher this way really increases my off target direction. In the end I decided to stop pursuing it. I can hit this driver about 220 in 70 degree weather. I think I should be able to increase my carry and perhaps roll? if I can just hit it higher. Is there an equipment (driver head/shaft) solution for me. I'm a smooth tempo player without a lot of "hit" at impact which would affect shaft choice. Currently using the Ping stock stiff shaft it came with.

have you considered getting fitted for a new driver? seems like a no brainer to me. They'll have you try all the new drivers and different shafts

i use the Ping 400 Max, was fitted. Ended up with a shaft that i THOUGHT would not be for me. Funny how perceptions often dont equal reality

Think you should try out Taylormade drivers. I went from the sldr to the g30 because it felt so much better off the face. Lost over 20 yds in distance because of back spin. I now play the g400 lst 8.5 degree head. Still feels like the g30 but much less spin. But yeah a fitting could do wonders.

Dial up some more head loft and consider using a longer overall build (45.5-46'). You can also consider learning to turn the ball over a little more if you aren't already.

Thank you all! As a left hander the variety of shafts and heads are much more limited in a fitting but that doesn't mean I shouldn't try. Will follow the idea of a Taylor Made driver and upping my game to the g400.

An 8.5 degree head seems like the opposite of gaining a higher ball flight, did I misunderstand you?

No I was just stating which loft I played in that driver. Taylormade drivers and the G400 are lower spin than the g30. I still have the SLDR and I play it at 10 degrees because it is extremely low spin. My swing has changed since a few years ago and I hit more up on the ball so I dont need higher loft. But if you want more distance theres lots of ways to get distance. Find the right shaft first that gives you the kick point to maximize the angle you hit the ball. More loft is another. And try hitting the ball on your upswing more. Even a longer shaft if you think you could still control it.

Thanks for the explanation bgray, I think I get it. Lower spin for especially a slower swing like mine requires a higher ball flight to gain distance. Either hit up on the ball more or add loft to the driver or possibly a longer shaft.

You can also start doing overspeed training and work to pick up club head speed... you should be able to get up over 100 mph in a few months.

Tee it up higher and outside of your lead foot. Then just practice catching the ball on the upswing. Also practice your fastest part of your swing being just after contact with the ball. It'll put you a little off balance for a bit and can be hard on your back but it does work 

I can change the launch angles just by my tee height 🤷🏻‍♂️
