The right 'replacement' for the fairway woods.

The clubs that I have in my bag right now are:-

Callaway Epic Flash driver 10.5

Callaway X 5-hybrid

Scotty Cameron Golo3

Titlest Vokey SM7 52 and 60

Callaway Apex CF19 5,7,9,P

I cant seem to hit the 3 irons or 3 woods at all.

What would be a good replacement to use? My pro shop recommends a utility iron, but there dont seem to be many choices out there so far.

How about a 2 hybrid. I use the ping g400 17 deg instead of a fairway. I very often hit it longer than my playing groups drivers. It's also great around the green for chipping

Try a lower lofted large head hybrid. Shorter shaft for consistency but 17-19d will get you good distance. I game an Epic 2H which I set usually at 18 or 19. Ping makes a great one (they all do really). Cally has larger headed ones like the Rogue or Bertha. This is my go 2 for long par 5 approaches vs. a 3w due to consistency. I can get the 3w up but its lie dependent as my speed is right on the edge of being able to just blast it and needing to middle it.

I am also a big fan of the 4w since my junior days...so much so a 4w may be replacing the 3w next year in the bag :D

I’m loving the Titleist u-500 and have all three of them. Low offset, simple, nice feel. Didn’t care for the u-510. Too chunky and sound was tinny.

i also recommend the TaylorMade GAPR, which, despite being ugly as heck, are very effective and versatile.

4 or 5 wood instead of a 3 wood imo

UIs.... Tons of them, I like the srixon line. Launch high and straight, you could fill the bottom end of your bag with them no problem.

What's your handicap and ballstriking ability like? You've only got 9 clubs listed so it seems like you've got some room to blow out the bank at the golf store lol

A good 4 wood at 43 or 42.5 inches long.I just got a 917F2 16.5 on tuesday.The 17 hybrids are a good suggestion too.Both of the above should be more user friendly than a long iron?Or should i say test all 3 until you find a Stupid Easy ToHit fwy/hydrid

5 wood or 7 wood, shorter shaft than a 3 wood and likely adjustable for loft, so you can experiment until you find the shot shape you like.

Average golfer hits the 4W more reliably and sometimes longer - than a 3W. A little extra loft really helps with launch.

Also try 5W if 4W doesn't quite get it.

And, skip the 2H if you have trouble with a 3i.

No need for a utility if you have issues with a 3I, utility is just a fat iron, get a 5 wood.
