Dynamic Gold AMT Tour White S400

Hey everyone... Upon looking at the Titleist Custom Options page, I noticed that they offer a AMT Tour White S400 shaft. Does any one out there have any info or spec info on the AMT Tour White S400 model? I looked on True Tempers website but couldn't find anything. Also if you notice on the Titleist page it shows the S400 as a 130 gram shaft (which could be a typo), torque specs are also different on the shorter shafts from the standard DG shafts which I thought would be the same. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any idea if the "tour" means that they are more weight sorted than the standard DGs? I know the S400 plays slightly stiffer than the S300, so my hope is that the Tour White S400 version does start at 130g, which for me would work great as a wedge shaft. Unfortunately haven't been able to get an answer from True Temper on this.

I assume its the "original" AMT, and they have this specs. (S300 and X100 has the same weight)

For DG shafts with the same profile, more weight is stronger flex, but we talk small numbers, and not as much as HS1, but close (vs S300)

for the #9 and PW, Its still the same old DYNAMIC shaft for ALL, sorted with either the GOLD or Tour Issue Standard

S200 Dynamic Gold is 125.5 to 128.5 grams

S200 Dynamic Gold Tour Issue (Japan only) 127.5 - 128.5 grams

S300 Dynamic GOLD is 128.5 to 131.5 grams

S300 Dynamic Gold TOUR ISSUE (AMT TI only) 129.5 - 130.5 grams

S400 Dynamic GOLD is 131.5 to 133.5 grams

S400 Dynamic Gold TOUR ISSUE 131.5 - 132.5 grams

So all 6 is the same #9 iron shaft, weight sorted by either the GOLD or the Tour Issue standard so there is no difference from regular Dynamic Gold to AMT for the #9 and PW shaft, only the weight sorting.

There is 1 difference from Tour White & DG AMT.

The tour White set starts dropping 3 grams at the 9 iron instead of the 8 iron in the DG AMT.

He is wrong if he stated otherwise, but I don’t believe he stated that. He was talking about DG AMT not the newer Tour White.

here is what he said and based on experience on this forum he’s a trusted source and rarely/if ever wrong.

S200 Dynamic Gold Tour Issue (Japan only) 127.5 - 128.5 grams

S300 Dynamic Gold TOUR ISSUE (AMT TI only) 129.5 - 130.5 grams

S400 Dynamic GOLD is 131.5 to 133.5 grams

S400 Dynamic Gold TOUR ISSUE 131.5 - 132.5 grams

please provide whatever info you have that proves he is wrong.

He’s talking about DG AMT S400 tour issue which he’s correct. The weight starts dropping at the 8 iron.

In the new rebranded AMT tour white the weight starts dropping at the 9i

The #9 iron is the shortest shaft (37.00"), and both X100, S300, and S400 is the classic DYNAMIC shaft, so its 130 gram as X100 or S300 and 132 as S400 with the GOLD sorting or Tour Issue sorting for tolerances.

Shaft flex comes from Diameter and wall thickness, so S400 has slightly thicker shaft walls who makes it a bit stronger. This aint news, thats why TT introduces GOLD and SUB FLEX sorting to S200, S300 and S400 back in 1980. We can use 1 CPM pr gram, so DG S400 is expected to be 2 CPM stiffer than S300. (FCM 5.8 vs 6.0), and S200 is expected to be 2-3 CPM softer than S300 (S200 FCM 5.5-5.6)., so its about half a flex from S200 to S400 even if the shaft was suppose to end up as the same, all due to this small weight differences.

EDIT - AMT TOUR White, dont seems to belong to the TOUR ISSUE sorted shaft series, but ordinary GOLD sorting.

AMT Tour issue is the "old" name...now they are called AMT Tour White (the white name was introduced when they also added the BLACK and RED, but its still "AMT Tour Issue", but it dont seems to have the same weight sorting tolerance as Tour issue ,(GOLD plus minus 1.5 grams, TOUR ISSUE plus minus 0.5 grams)

Howard is correct . I have Tour issue AMT White S400 in one set and Tour issue S400 in the other. You cannot really tell a difference in weight between 130 & 132 grams , not much anyway, if at all. And the TI S400 feels almost like hardstepped TI White S400 one step, if even one step . Howard is absolutely correct as the max weight allowances are .5 in TI and less stringent or about 1.5-2 gram in the S2, R3 etc.. The TI S400 feels stiffer because of the extra weight . Not so noticeable or necessary unless you’re a Tour Pro. Most of us mere mortals are just fine with the TI White S400 or TI Gold S400 . Choose based on the esthetics unless you’re really crunching numbers to get to a specific goal weighting . Otherwise, just snag some and play??

AMT has a steeper flex slope than standard Dynamic Gold, so AMTs goes both lighter and softer into the long irons compared to standard DG, and since shaft move in both weight and flex when hard or soft stepped, the AMT series gives a very wide range of options to fine tune both weight and flex.

AMT WHITE ONLY

- Combinations sorted first as flex, then weight within each flex class. What looks like 4 basic options (R300-S300-S400-X100) is really 21 options...even with a many left out who makes it to become up to 46 options totally, so its a nice model series of shafts.

A set GOLD sorted standards will be good enough matching for most with plus minus 1.5 grams, where DGS300 or DGX100 would be 128.5 to 131.5 grams for all, but for AMT its a bit different, since Gold sorting might "ruin" the AMT slope where worse case scenario is 2 shafts in the set has the same weight, who should have been 3 grams apart to follow the AMT slope...so if you want AMT, go Tour issue.
