What is the lowest temp you will golf in?

What is the lowest temperature you will golf in in the winter?

Also, if the course is closed do you go out there and play anyway?

So far, 30°F, and windy.

Prefer not to golf on a closed course. It's closed for a reason, even if it looks playable

For me the wind is the determining factor in colder temps.

ha ... was just thinking the same thing ... i generally play if the course is open, sans hard rain ... but, the bermuda greens are tarped in the winter (which is what i have today; other course is bent), and if there's frost, they don't remove the tarps till it's above the frost temp, and i'm usually 1st or 2nd group off for the day, so that extends the day too much for me and i don't play ... only happens a few times at most, but today is one of them ... 31 now in the 'ham, and won't reach 34 or so till 9 or 10, so that's too late in the day for me ...

We head to Myrtle Beach each December and have played a good few rounds in the 30's but in glorious sunshine and no one else on the course.

Good times, The wind chill definitely needs to be taken into account though..

Low 30’s if there is no wind and it is sunny. As soon as the frost is gone they send us out, and by the 2nd or 3rd hole I’ve taken off a couple of layers. As long as I keep my hands warm with Lil-Hotties and gloves I’m OK which just goes to show you how a person can adept to the cold. When I lived in Palm Springs I would wear a parka when it got down to the 50’s.

Mid 30s as long as it is dry works for me. The wind is the killer, it can actually be pretty nice if it is sunny with no wind.

No. If the course is closed it's for good reason.

We have several courses here open in all manner of weather. If they are closed I know it's nor worth the trouble.

Once I get acclimated to colder weather, we would play in temps as low as mid 30's if it is calm and sunny. Wind usually determines how unpleasant it is outside. I played in a New Year's Day tournament few days ago, even though it was in low 50's but with 2-3 club wind blowing made it feel very cold.

I have a teetime in couple hours, it'll be mid 40's at that time and won't get above low 50's. Should be a decent winter day of golf in midwest.

Courses around here only open if the high is forecast at 40 degrees and above. As such, we frequently start when it’s mid 30s. Sun and little wind is the key, although cart covers make a world of difference. Used to be a walker, so low temps were never a problem as you’re always moving. But my current gang are all riders...

I generally don’t play under 50-55 degrees. I’m not a die hard for the course. I will go to heated range in cooler temps though

30s if it is sunny and not windy. As one with a turf degree, if the course is closed, that means no play.

Living in Chicago near the lake, to me it's all about the wind. If wind is down then 30s with sun works. If its cloudy and windy - time to watch Shell Wonderful World of Golf on YouTube.

I'd probably draw the line at -5c. Thankfully it's rare for anywhere around here (midlands/south UK) to stay below freezing during the day.

I'd never play on a closed course for the same reason I wouldn't breaking into a closed shop.

We got lucky in my location, was 65 on Christmas and day after this year, only was able to hit the range but course was full. Ironically, Halloween this year we got a couple inches of snow and was like 25 degrees. Was backwards weather but we have had a very mild winter so far luckily

I like the real feel feature of accuweather....Real feel above 40 I will play. Real feel 50+, I look to make a tee time....

Just played the other day and it was 44 degrees and sunny but constant 15-20mph winds. Was tolerable but not to enjoyable. My driver head broke as well which I believed had to do with the cold.

55 degrees, sunny, wind under 10mph, just not enjoyable for me under 55, I'll wait for another day. I live in the Northeast & haven't played in over 2 months, really don't miss it at all, don't see the pleasure playing in bad weather.

I'm truly blessed living in Southern California. It's never too cold to play here. Not for me at least. Although, once a course around here held play for the morning tee times until the frost cleared

Exactly. Walking, with the proper layers and this is a comfortable round!

Will add to this that one of the guys in our group is a convert to "cold' weather golf. We've played 4-5 rounds in the conditions described above as he's hooked. Ironically, as someone who I wouldn't label as a fast player, he loves playing in 3 hours.

I have played in the snow in great company. I’ve played in the driving rain. That was then....I’d prefer it be above 35 without heavy wind. Over 40 even better.

Don't be selfish and play a closed course. There is a reason it is closed.

I don't mind playing in the 30s if it's sunny and there's no wind. It's really all about the wind. Yesterday it was 45 degrees, sunny, windy and miserable!

I will play in the rain. If it is cold and windy, I will stay home. I used to play in all conditions. I no longer enjoy playing in the soft muddy conditions. I don't like havng to hammer putts on wet greens.
