Has anyone tried a callaway rogue 13.5 degree driver for their 10-11 year old???

Hello all, my son is currently playing a ping Prodi G driver and he likes it. I was thinking about picking up a callaway rogue 13.5 degree head and I was wondering if anyone has tried this head for their son or daughter? Any feedback would be much appreciated especially if they hit it against the Ping Prodi G. Thanks in advance.

My son still plays the TS3 irons. I just found that he got more distance using the Ping Prodi G driver vs the us kids last year.

the reason I was going with the 13.5 is because currently his Ping is a 15 degree driver. I figured with the 13.5 I could drop it down to 11.5 if needed. Plus we live in the Pacific Northwest where carry is necessary as the conditions are soft so we don’t get a tonne of roll.

I am as well. My kid is at 100 and is at 10.5. Until recently he was still at 12. If the ground is soft with no roll out he goes for carry only and will jack it up as high as it goes. Slower swing speed like these kids are getting no value by putting their lofts at 10.5 unless a launch monitor has given them optimized results at 10.5.

I am GenX.  If you really think I care about what you have to say, I don't.

I would highly recommend finding a fitter that has a trackman and ton of shafts. There are so many combinations out there it's impossible to know if you have the right combo. The worst thing too is every shaft is different when it comes to true flex. If you don't have a fitter look for club champion or truspec. I think a driver fitting is around $100. I am waiting about a month or two because I want to do this when the latest drivers hit the market. I have a feeling my daughter could gain significant yardages based on trackman and her current carry distance. Unless I go through a fitting I don't think I will ever find the true answer.

I also never thought much on shafts but a lighter stiffer shaft might be perfect or it may not be. You may also want lighter grips or standard grips. Until you swing them there is no way to know.

You can pretty much buy any random OEM Driver and you will almost certainly see a pickup in yardage over junior clubs because there just simply made better. But the only true way you know you have the best combo is going to go through a fitting.

Not sure where you live but if you happen to live in a very small town far away you might have challenges and in those cases I would travel somewhere to get it done. Do you have a local pro shop where you play golf? Ask the pro about talking to a callaway rep to see if they can do a fitting for you. If none of these are options just buy a driver and some shafts on eBay and see what happens then sell what you don't want.

Yeah no idea why some of you are saying 13.5 is abnormally high for a 10 year old. 13.5 is the logical choice (go look at my thread in the equipment section for the proof in the pudding on both a monitor and the course). Typically until they are banging a swing speed in the 90s at the minimum you want the higher lofted driver. We did the monitor with a 12.5 F8 vs a 10.5 and trust me the 12.5 blew it away. There is a reason women's heads are higher lofted due to relative swing speed which your junior is not pushing past until 12-13 area unless he is just an absolute stud.

Quaranta shaft with the Rogue. Again this is for 10-12 yo competitive junior golfers in our area. Some kids are going as low as 9 degree to squeeze out extra roll.

We've used F8 at 10 degree, with tensei blue shaft, and had to abandoned it after seeing how much distance we were losing over the Rogue.

As you have guessed, shaft matters a lot. You can't assume all drivers will launch the same just because of the same loft.

The Mavrik is a really good club. My kid has never liked Callaway products. His coach gave him a Mavrik Driver on Saturday and two shots in he said "This is the best feeling driver I have ever hit." He gamed it on Sunday.
