I wish I am ageless.
If I had those numbers I wouldn't care of it played " Yankee Doodle Dandy " every time I hit it!!!!!!
Can't wait for Mavrik to come out. I personally like the initial looks we're seeing in photos and I'm more than happy to go with the orange color scheme over the green... if they sound better than the Epic Flash too then it's a big win for me.
It sounds and looks miles better than the flash its much more muted and powerful sounding

I hit the Flash after also with the same Rogue 130 and it wasn't really close at all, i was getting near the same numbers as my M1 with it. I also was a major critic of the Flash i thought they were hot dogs#*t. The triple diamond is an exception but that should've just been the SZ to begin with.....
When I tested the Epic versus the m5/6 it was consistently 16-18 yards longer with better dispersion, for me.
With these drivers at the limit now, I can't see much in the way of gains coming over the Epic but we'll see when guys like TXG test it
I feel like a lot had to do with the set up and shape of the Mav over the Flash, i hated how it looked so i feel like i didn't really have the confidence to swing it the same
safe to wait and let the dust settle :)
gonna be a boom year for drivers.
Would like to hear more when you get to try the SIM,
Please give us a comparison of the two, maybe with the same
shaft. Good luck and look forward to your review
I may be able to compare shafts. If not I’ll be hitting the SIM with my Tour Ad GP and the Hzrdus hulk to start, my TM fitter will have the full Gambit unlike the Callaway fitter
Nothing wrong with that, appreciate the feed back on how the two compare . Distance, sound, feel, you know , thanks
When I did a demo today I gained 3 mph (114 to 117) of clubhead speed. I have an AD BB 7x in my Rogue so I could compare apples to apples. My smash was lower than my gamer as well. Must be just getting used to Mavrik.
Hey coach, thanks for sharing.
I'd have to ask for the EXACT head and shaft you tested when making the change.
Totally agree with this point.. a few years back I went for a driver fitting. The place I went was not pulling shaft options from a fitting cart, but from a wall of shafts that they had all the tipping and CPM's specs on a sticker on the shafts.. I actually walked out with their demo / fitting Epic driver head and the best fit shaft I hit that day.. not saying that the head is "different" in any way, but it has served me well.
Today is the day! Should have updates of Mavrik vs. Sim and Sim Max on here tonight, will be writing my own full review of the SIM and SIM Max on their own thread as well
Anyone know release dates yet on the new Mavrik drivers? Website just says January, but we're about halfway through the month already.
2/1 I believe
On the Callaway podcast that got taken down over the weekend, they mentioned pre-sale 1/14 and official release of 1/23 or 1/24. It was a 30-35 minute podcast but was only up for about an hour. It got taken down, as it wasnt supposed to be released until tomorrow. Had a ton of great content on the Mavrik line from their product manager.

Was at a big box store on Sunday and had a chance to hit the Mavrik and the SIM. Loved the look of the SIM but not the sound or feel. Mavrik looked great and sounded great. I had my Rogue head as I was in for a new grip, numbers weren't much better, ball speed maybe 1-2 mph higher. I peaked at 159 with Mavrik and 158 with Rogue. I did like the sound and the feel of the Mavrik better though. It's an interesting move for Callaway to go back to a head with no sliding weight, flash had more adjust ability with that option - but maybe that's why the Mavrik sounds and feels a little better. If I buy the Mavrik I am going to bring some of my shafts and be sure it's the rigjht fit as there are less options for adjusting afterward.
So today was the day I went to hit the SIM Vs the Mavrik
the SIM is by far the BEST looking driver in the last few years the chalk color with the Greyed carbon looks insanely good. +1 to SIM
I hit the SIM with 5 shafts
my current Tour AD GP 6x
Atmos Black 6x
Hzrdus Smoke Green 70 6.5
Aldila Rogue White 130msi 70x
And the Diamana that is stock 65x
i hit the SIM wonderfully consistent with my Tour AD giving me 3 more mph CHS and 3 mph more ball speed
spin was solid and hovered around 1900 on solid strikes with only 1 over 3000 on a heely miss the sweet spot is old school taylormade though. High towards the toe gives NUCLEAR hot low spin 10-12 yard draws the longest recorded was 331 for 361 total at 1560 spin and 15.6 launch
the real winner of both of these fittings though is the Rogue White 130 msi. It gave me by far the most consistent numbers and the best dispersion with that shaft even over my GP. When hit with the same shafts the Mavrik and the SIM produced eerily similar numbers with the SIM being easier to control and lower spinning on good strikes. The Mavrik wins to me on forgiveness though.
all in all the SIM to me would be more in my play style Flatter launch better spin and looked more confident building.
total tally being
The real winner of the testing though was me I may or may not have “stolen” from under my fitters fingers (my best friend) his tour issued M3 440 9* As he already has his SIM built for him, that with my GP produced almost exact results to the SIM with my Tour Ad GP but with less dispersion. I’ll definitely be looking into a SIM but later in the season.
ALSO, I will be purchasing the Rogue 130 White at some time this season to replace my Beloved GP. It’s that good. Even the “watered down” stock ones that Callaway offers. We pulled an extra Callaway tip and built one to side by side test in the TM because I felt it was so solid for me. If @aldila is listening (I love you)
@AdamStoutjesdyk as the Mavrik standard or SZ?

The Mavrik Sub Zero was MORE forgiving than SIM? Was this with the weight back?
I hit all 3
SZ and Max.
to be honest my favorite if I were to play on the course with was the Max, it’s huge and kinda ugly but I could shape it both ways and my misses were super tight, but the SZ gave me by far better numbers for maximum distance
Nope it was with both drivers in their standard neutral settings, my usual miss is low heel and the Mavrik was a lot more consistent on those, a lot straighter, low heel on the SIM just equated to a big push slice. But that’s usually the case for all Taylormade drivers I’ve noticed, if you miss a TM driver it better be off the toe
Thanks to Precisiongolf James 👌🏼 They said also Mav SZ won on feel and sound.
Everyone’s personal fittings/comparisons will always be different, I am and almost always have been a TM player so I always feel more confident looking down on a TM driver that I’ll hit them “better” but there’s no denying that both drivers are really darn good
Yeah I think it's a huge part to actually like what you are looking down on, for example out of the M3/M4 release I liked your driver, the M3 440 the most and also hit it the best even though it was the most difficult version of the punch.
I can't wait to try the SIM's and the Mav's, they will have a mountain to climb into my bag because a properly fitted G410 Plus will be tough to beat on performance.
The G410 is super good it just was too spinny for me, no matter how I had one built it was a high spinning flight
Does this make anyone else feel really old?
