If she really loves golf let her go at it. When me and my wife went a couple years ago she elected to just walk with us and take photos. She enjoyed it and had she elected to play she would've made the experience less enjoyable lol. The course is hard and is not made for just slapping the ball around. So if you wife gets easily frustrated like mine does I would advise against it.

Havent seen any rankings..... but I would agree Osprey point (even with water on so many holes) is pretty much straight away in front of you. Only forced carres are on a couple of par threes. One with water and the other a bunker if I am remembering correctly. Other than that it is wall to wall grass. Enjoyable course.

Played Ocean last year and it was a blast. Depending on your skill level, that course could turn into an unenjoyable experience really quickly if you go into it with the wrong mindset. As for the caddie situation, we played as a foursome with two caddies and it was great. So I’d say you should be good with one caddy for two bags.

If she enjoys playing, wants to play the course, and has a reasonable expectation for pace of play- go for it!!! Furthermore , play from whatever yardage she deems enjoyable, REGARDLESS of where actual tees are. IE- If she hit her driver 100 yards- tee it up at 150 marker on par 4’s. If 380 yard par 4 for you is Driver & 9i, then Put her at a distance that equals the same for her. Caddies at Ocean Course will be happy to accommodate (even grateful that she isn’t playing from too far back, which just makes their job harder) . People get hung up on where the actual tees are... in the specific case of “ladies” tees , most are too far for the average female golfer anyway.

Strongly second this. One caddy carrying two sets of clubs is the worst, and is my one regret from my Kiawah trip. I thought ide be able to carry my bag if needed but the guy insisted on carrying both of our bags the entire round. My wife needs pointers out there and I thought it would help my game out to have a caddy for her, but it sort of backfired. Definitely distracting to have to wait for your club all the time, or when they hand you the driver and walk off. And the audible sigh when you both hit tee shots in opposite directions, ends up adding unnecessary pressure to your round. Finally, we tipped per bag as they suggested, like suckers, so we paid the same anyway.

Osprey should be great for the wife. My wife was very new to golf when we played it and she did great. Very friendly course. Met a great couple that day. You’ll see alligators and the food/clubhouse is great... you definitely get what you came for. The great thing about Kiawah is there’s plenty to do off the course too. We are already planning a longer trip with more island activities.

As an aside, my wife survived the Ocean Course too and now she’s not afraid to play anywhere! We happened to be there a day after the No Laying Up guys.

Let her play! It is a good way for her to overcome 'nerves' and playing the 'better' places we have been has made my wife a fanatic! It created a desire to improve and she has worked hard to get better. Our vacations revolve around golf and sometimes I think she has become more 'hardcore' than I am! Not a bad problem to have!! Also, get two caddies. It will make feel more involved and a good caddy will enhance her positive feel for this great game!

My wife has played Pebble Beach with me when we went back in 2013. And those were the days when she only played maybe 2 or 3 times a year. She had fun, but I think Pebble is a bit easier to deal with than the Ocean Course.

When her and I went to Kiawah last year, she decided to do the spa while my buddy and I played Ocean Course. It was a good thing too, because it was straight 30-35 mph winds that day.

So in short, I think the answer is it depends on the level of challenge of the course.

Respectfully disagree. Anyone can always (and most should )Play UP a set of tees at ocean course. Fairways are generous and I can’t think of one forceed carry required from the front two sets of tees. It’s an enjoyable walk and beautiful course- no one should skip it if you love golf, want to play it, and want to pay.

Ill disagree as well. This course is so inviting to most people. Just play proper distance. Fairways are very inviting. Ive played with my buddy and strangers who rarely/cannot break 100 and they have a blast once they realize its just golf on a "famous" course and nothing more.

I actually find the course fairly simple. Just keep the ball in front of you and don't try to dominate it.

Forever Changing at this point.......
