Need advice on new custom irons - swingweight

hi,

I recently purchased a set of new 2020 irons from a major manufacturer. i chose pretty standard components - AMT white x100 steel shafts, lamkin crossline grips (~50 g) and in standard length. lies were bent 2-3 degrees flat. thing is all the irons are swing weighting at D7-D8. the stock swingweight is D2. I have not yet hit any of the irons as I was dissatisfied with the quality of 2 of the forgings (7 and 8 irons). i am reluctant to hold onto this set. are my concerns justified? 5-6 points over the stock swingweight has me thinking something is not right. value your experienced opinions on this ,thanks

Yeah if they’re that far off on SW I’d be sending them back. D7/8 is pretty damn heavy for irons. Curious as to what was wrong with the 7/8 irons as far as finish goes?

Send them back but next time you order clubs specify the swing weight.

Check the lengths if possible. Sounds like they might be 1" longer to get those swingweights.

I checked the lengths and compared to spec on website. They are standard length alright (5 iron 38.25").

If they were mine, they would be going back for sure. I couldn't live with a D7-8 swingweight.

Notice how the grooves on the 8 iron run very close to the topline as compared to the 7 and 9 irons. I like to have consistency across the entire set. I expect this when paying over €150 per iron. Would you agree that this is not acceptable or I am being too fussy. I have had a few sets in the past which had a couple of oddities in one or two clubs like this. I won't part with hard earned money again for something which is substandard. They way I see it is that if they gave these to a Pro, he would send them back too. Golf is a very mental game and knowing that there are some inconsistencies across your set doesnt do that side of the game any good. Also, the 7 iron has a bit more material below the bottom groove that the rest of the irons. It may not be so obvious in the photo above. but when you compare by eyeballing the irons i can see the inconsistency. What do you think?

I could be missing counting, but looks like the 7 iron is 14 grooves while the 8 and 9 are 15 grooves.

The top groove does look a bit odd too on the 8 iron.

Leading edges look a small bit off too but that could be the angle of the picture.

Curious who the manufacturer is but I completely understand not revealing.

I kinda question authenticity but that's outside looking in.

I would send those back in a heartbeat. Have sent orders back to the manufacture for far less

They are Cobra Forged Tec irons (the new 2020 model). they were bought from a UK online retailer and built by Cobra UK. disappointed and they are going back. i really appreciate the input by all who responded here. thank you all.
