Koepka New Driving Iron

Looks like Brooks swapped out of the nike vapor fly pro based on his highlights on youtube from today. Tensei white shaft and it looked like an MP20 HMB.

Anyone else see this?

Maybe he gave the Nike to Tony Finau as I see he is gaming one now

Lots of players try out all kinds of new equipment during these early season events, doesn't mean they've earned a spot in their bags.

I thought I read somewhere that he put a TM 790 driving iron in the bag.

The Nike 3-iron had been a mainstay in his bag for years, its a big deal for him to swap out that club.

Yup, but him giving another club a trial run doesn't mean the Nike's gone for good.

Like I said before, lots of players try out all kinds of new equipment during these early season events: Tiger replacing his 2-iron with a GAPR, Rory replacing his 3-iron with a hybrid, etc., etc., etc. I'm just saying it doesn't mean much until these clubs are in their bags on the first tee of the first major.

I also had heard he swapped it for the P790 UDI and not an HMB. Would be very interesting if he decided to put an HMB in the bag tho. I haven't seen too many of those 2 irons in the wild

True but taking it out for competitive play is a big step. I'm certain he hasn't put the Nike in the trash.

I am going to check his trash can. When is garbage pick up at his house? Anyone know?

Naw I disagree. With how important the tools are and with how much testing guys likely do before switching, it is a big deal that it made it into tournament play period. And it is DOUBLY interesting when it comes to a guy like Koepka who is not known for changing much.

Well, considering his recent knee surgery, and lack of testing he's done as a result, and the fact he's only gone back to hitting balls the last 2-3 weeks. ... It is, by the way, just an overseas appearance-fee tournament for him anyway.

True, and could be treated as an extended testing session by him to that end, but still, for a free agent that is not beholden to any equipment pressures, it is still compelling. Your rationale here could used to explain exactly why he WOULDN'T change anything, so the fact that he has is that much more interesting.

Changes in what a pro is playing even if it’s just one round, are one of the things that makes this section of the forum tick.

For most this isn’t a big deal. For a guy like him who rarely changes things and if they do, it’s an evolutionary change (JPX 900T to 919T, M3 to M5 to SIM). A shaft change of any kind or moving on from the utility iron he’s had in the bag for years is pretty surprising.

Go back and look at his WITB for the past few years, same shafts from driver to lob wedge, same 3 wood head, same utility, same wedge models and the same putter.
