This's a great full field season opener; it's a nice purse and it attracts six of the Top-10 players because it immediately follows Tournament of Champions.
Maria Fassi is on the spot; can she right herself and start the new season with a bang?
Patty Tavatanakit, Albane Valenzuela and Yealimi Noh are the rookies to watch.

This should be a fun tournament, with a good mix of higher ranked players, and a lot of new faces.
Weather forecast looks typical for Florida. Warm temps with a chance of rain each day.
It will be interesting to see how the rookies fare in their first event. Obviously making a cut would be nice, but will any crack the top 10? I predict two will finish in the top 10. 'Just not going to predict which two. Lol.

Checking out the course with google maps, you'd better be hitting your greens in regulation or your sand play will get a workout. Lots of bunkering around the greens. I'm going with Nelly this week, Florida girl who is long and a decent sand player if she gets into a few bunkers. I think Nelly will be ready to go this week, she played well in her last 3 rounds at the Diamond.

Nelly or Brooke; that's a big question.

Brooke make more birdies, Nelly make less bogeys; both are in their prime and could win every week.

It's a good problem to have for us fans.

May be Alison will shock us and get her first win this week.

A win for Alison would certainly surprise us! I’m interested to see if the home town girl (and my fave) Morgan Pressel can keep her run of good play going this year. Also, how Stacy Lewis fares coming back from injury to resume playing as a mom. As for rookies, I’ll be curious to see how Leona McGuire fares.

Well the sportsbooks are asking the same question, they are co-favorites and are paired together in tournament match-ups with same odds.@ChronicSlicer inspired me to put a few bucks on Lexi over Inbee for a tournament match-up bet. With some long Par 4's and Par 5's, I think it's a better week for Lexi.

Plus she did lead the LPGA in sand saves in 2017, so she can play from the beach. She may not make the putt...but..lol.

She may not have had the best sand save % the last few years, but she also does not hit the traps as often as some of the leaders in the category do. She also has been top 5 since 2015 in GIR, having lead the category twice.

I thoroughly enjoy the fact that people think she's done and too old.

Surprisingly, scores are under par earlier on; length of the course be damned.

My guess is greens are pure and given.

Look for Brooke and Nelly to have field days.

Annie Park is an enigma, she's either in the top 10 or bottom 10 on the leaderboard, usually never in-between.

Yeah the greens seem tricky and the afternoon winds look like it's causing lots of problems add to it the length of the course and you better take advantage of your morning round.
