Recommend a good, cheap 7 wood

Since no one on this site plays a 7 wood (cough, cough), I was wondering if any of your...dads...have a good 7 wood they would recommend. I'm looking to stay pretty cheap (think $50-60) and reasonably new-ish. Right now there's a Callaway GBB Epic Heaven Wood on ebay that's in that range. Does anyone have anything else they've heard other people talking highly of?

Lots of action in the 7w thread. Personally I’m partial to the Ping models which can be bent flat/open.

Look up Tour Edge and look for XRail 7W from circa 2012. Square face, decent stock shaft.

My XRail 7W is back at TE factory getting repaired. The shaft broke in half last week, so I'm getting it reshafted for free! (TE has lifetime guarantee on clubs)

I second the 917 F2. It's not in my signature at the moment but it's one of the clubs in my rotation. It's an extremely handy club, and the Titleist doesn't launch too high. Some 7 woods go to the moon. This one offers a very nice trajectory (you see some of these on tour) and is also adjustable.

It's a premium line of clubs but because it's a couple years old you can find them online for $150 in mint condition or new, and less than $100 slightly used.

I'm a huge Cally GBB heavenwood fan myself but might not be the fit you are looking for. Can pick them up pretty cheap used.

The larger head of the heaven wood appealed to me for use off the tee. I also play the TM 2017 M2 3HL mainly because of the bigger head for tee shots.

I will admit I’m a 7 wood guy and will not replace my cobra f7 unless it fails. Such a versatile club I don’t think I will ever go back to not having one in the bag.

Cobra F7 7-8 wood. Reintroduction of the rails & adjustable loft from 21 to 24 degrees. So nice. I really wish Cobra would bring back the adjustable fairways & hybrids.

For you Titleist guys, is there much difference between the 915 and 917 7 woods? Looks like a slightly heavier Diamana shaft in the 915.

One of my best purchases in 2019 was a Callaway Rogue 7W. Sits great, easy to hit and I got it in a great deal as it was soon to be superseded

One more to consider: The Cobra FlyZ 5-7FW. This club has an adjustable loft range of 17°-20°. The MyFly8 hosel cog allows eight loft and lie adjustments.

Stock FlyZ shafts are a bit heavier than average for similar OEM models, and also play slightly firm to flex.

The FlyZ+ model came out shortly afterward. The Plus model has center of gravity in head more forward, so will not launch quite as high as the FlyZ. Note: the FlyZ had medium launch.

Although FlyZ came out in 2015, on occasion I run across one that is barely used. You might check the racks at PIAS and Second Swing before going online.

I like my Ping G 7 wood. It's my favorite club. I found the XRail model I had a few years ago was shorter in distance, but maybe it was just the shaft or my meager swingspeeed.

Callaway makes 7 wood models in the same lines as their modern Heavenwoods. The Heavenwood is not a 7 wood (at least modern versions) despite that it keeps getting mentioned in "7 wood" threads. The loft is simiilar to modern 7 woods. But as the OP says it has a large head and it also has a 42.75" shaft that makes length and headsize similar to a "4W", with a bigger head and longer shaft than the 5W in the same lines.

If you a want a larger head, great. Me, I want a smaller head and shorter shaft for versatility from various lies. I hated the Heavenwood for the loss of versatility the couple of times I tried them, but in fairness the shaft wasn't a fit either.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I've noticed a lot of love for Titleist, Cobra, TEE, Ping, and Callaway...but not a single mention of Taylormade. I have been going back and forth in my mind over I would really use the bigger head of the Heavenwood, but Myspinonit makes some good points about versatility. I'll keep watching the bay and if you guys see anything that stands out on there, let me know! (I noticed the GBB Heavenwood that sparked this thread disappeared immediately after I posted it...)
