Defending champion Phil Mickelson returns to the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am where last year he won for a record-tying fifth time on the Monterey Peninsula. Past winners including Dustin Johnson, Brandt Snedeker, and Jordan Spieth join Mickelson in the field. This year’s pro-am field includes notable names from Hollywood, and the worlds of music and sports like Peyton and Eli Manning, Wayne Gretzky, Tony Romo and Aaron Rodgers.

Thomas Keller? The michelin starred chef? Really??? Why?

He's played in it at least a couple/few years...he's had ties to the Pebble Beach Food & Wine Fest for a long time.

I so so wish they'd tell Berman, Gary Mule Deer, Alfonso Ribeiro, Ray Romano, Larry the Cable Guy, and Bill Murray (as great as he is, his act is so old and forced) to leave and never come back...personally, I'd rather that they get rid of the Am part altogether. The coverage is insufferable, and with a course like Pebble, that's an amazing feat in itself.

Can we get twenty pages devoted to sandbagging like we did in last tear's tournament thread?

The west coast swing is now 6 for 6 in having weaker fields in 2020.

When these guys get $500K+ just to show up in Saudi and Dubai, the early west coast swing doesn't have much to offer. The craziness of Scottsdale and playing with chops in potentially terrible weather at Pebble. These guys will pass for easy golf courses, awesome hospitality, and less spectators to deal with than college events.

Riviera will get them there. That's about it.

I thought Torrey Pine was solid. No?

It's a season long exemption. It can get him into most PGA Tour events minus the WGC events & Majors.

I always thought they should start the year in Florida; flip the west coast swing with it. Weather can be dicey either place so I get the tour's logic. Hard to fault guys for taking the money either.

PGA Tour should go from Hawaii to Cabo. The weather is better and then swing up the west coast.

I wouldn't be surprised if Casey goes one better than last year.

I like Fitzpatrick too but putting is his main weapon and the greens counter-act that to some degree, I do think he will win on the PGA Tour soon.

i like the tournament ... great course with weather that makes it play a bit different than most stops ... hope sneds and spieth have a good week ...

I can't bear to watch Chris Berman. He gives me nightmares - I'm scared his action might creep into my game.

Still love looking at the course, optimistic like I am every year I'll see more of the course and cool shots than celebrity interviews in the folding chairs and stuff nobody thinks is all that funny and like every year I'll probably be a little disappointed. Back when celebs were celebs and Hollywood was Hollywood it was definitely a different vibe and part of the reason Bing's widow cancelled the real tourney and AT&T continued on with what it is now. The so and so captain of industry thing just doesn't do anything for me, and I don't follow pro football or have a working vocabulary of country music stars so that's about it, lol.

DJ to get the win and keep his streak alive. He played pretty well in Saudi last week but couldn't buy a putt on Sunday. I'm not ready to give up on YJS either. I'll go conservative and say top 25 this week for the youngster.

Seeing celebs outside of their normal habitat used to be unique and fun...these days they almost all overexposed and lose some of that "unicorn" quality of seeing one in the wild!

As for a winner, DJ is clear favorite. Cantlay and Sneds also should contend, if I may state the obvious.

I'm not sure how grouping works but I'm really hoping to see Jake Owen and Phil together.
