First Ever WRX Golf Crush ??

As I thought about this great forum I was remembering how long I've really been a WRXer. For me, it was way back to the Wilson Pro Staff "truncated-cone" golf ball. I saw a commercial on TV with Julius Boros and 'Ole Sam Snead. My Golf Digest was dog eared where the ad was located. My parents wouldn't buy any but I finally I convinced our golf coach to buy some for the team and matches. I opened my sleeve, thrilled to finally have the Holy Grail, the ball that would make me great...alas, all of us liked out Titleist DTs better ! There have been too many crushes since then, but I still remember that one clearly. And all of you, what was your 1st golf crush ?

A lot more recent for me joining WRX, so my first WRX crush was the PING G400 Max. Although the releationship did not live up to the hype for me.

As for further back, one of my first serious golf crushes was the Taylormade RAC irons. I am not sure why they caught my eye, but I just wanted a set of them so badly.

Molitor golf balls. My dad used to work at a course when I was a kid and he would bring home all the balls he found to wash and resell. I would steal all the Molitor balls and keep them even though I hadn't started playing yet. Something about the triangle logo or font always intrigued me.

So many for me. Luckily I've owned a few of them. Ping I3 Blade (owned), original Nike Blades (owned), Titleist 660 (owned), Mizuno MPH4/H5 (not owned), Nike Vapor Pro Combo (owned x2), Miura MB5005 (not owned), Titleist 620 (not owned).

I was a member for a while before I really got involved. For me it was the Nike VR Split Cavity irons.

I bought them from the BST here. First online golf purchase ever. Did everything wrong, gifted the money, didn't do a check on the seller's status, yet a week later they arrived. I was smitten.

Currently play MP-H4 3-pw. Not going anywhere anytime soon. Great irons.

Ping ISI BeNi. I wanted them so badly as a kid...but bought them at 37 years old; only to stick them in a bag and look at them once in a while. Definitely understand the golf crush thing.

9064LS. and then every driver after for 5 years with a Harrison Saga shaft. WRX classic.

Man, I thought this was going to be where i list my GolfWRX member crushes and I was gonna list of a bunch of rando internet dudes who I have never met but would trust with the golf club fitting of my family.

Titleist 962B's. First clubs I ever bought brand new and custom ordered. Rotated between those and MP-14s until I bought Titleist 681's a few years later.

Tensei Pro White shafts. Once I got into the forums about 3 years ago I realized the whole world of exotic shafts. I was hooked and tried everything. Was hoping I’d fit into the Pro lineup of shafts and during my fit sure enough the PW was it for me. Probably the best golf related purchase I’ve ever made

Nike original blades, I've yet to see a set that in my mind even comes close to looking as good as they do

Being left handed it's not so much of a crush as being quite envious.

Tourstage Z101 irons.

Lynx Parallax irons. I was already a huge Boom Boom fan and when he won the '92 Masters with them; I just knew the only thing standing in the way of my 14 y/o self winning the Masters too was a set of Parallax irons.

Took a good two years of begging my dad till he finally bought them for man. Man, I loved those clubs.

     I left it ambiguous in case someone decided to go there. Certainly, you may if you have a goood crush on a rando club fitting dude !!

Mizuno MP irons.

It was long before I had ever joined and I was in one of those internet black holes regarding irons. As a lurker, I had read on a number of forums about the love of Mizuno irons and decided to try for myself. I was playing cast SGIs at the time and had never hit a forged iron...heck, I didn't know forged and cast existed. I went to my local Golfsmith, found a used set of MP-62s, took them over to the hitting bay and it was love at first strike...

Yamaha Secret III irons.

Adams MB2, RAW, 7 plug, 4-GW.

I never did get them, I was so sad. But I did get a BOOM BOOM driver, and that thing was magical. Played it until I caved it in.

But for me it was the Titleist Professional 100. As a 15yr. old kid, that was the holy grail. I generally played the Pinnacles that I found in the ditch and saved the Titleist's for tournaments. The first sleeve of Professional 100's was the greatest day of my life. I was sure they were the only thing keeping me from winning the Masters lol

Callaway Apex CF16s. I wanted them SO badly for about two years before I got them. Now I'm a WRXer through and through having switched clubs too many times to count.

Anything from titleist! Always love the look but for some reason I cannot hit their clubs. I guess I’m staying a Ping man for life!

Callaway X-20 Tour irons, but at the fitters advice bought the regular X-20.

I had a golfing buddy, who has since passed, older gentlemen who always told me he had this set of Adams MB2 he would oil because they would rust if he let them sit too long. He never played them ever just enjoyed to oil them and look at them. I asked him if I could buy them from him and he would always laugh at me and say that he liked looking at them too much. When he passed away unexpectedly who knows what happened to them....I hope he passed them down to his grand children for safe keeping. I have no idea why I shared that story but I have always wanted a set from reading this site and the story of my buddy Dave.....

  Now we're making progress !

I'm not sure if you are asking about something that was hyped here on WRX, or just equipment in general?

I'm not that old, but have played golf my entire life. So I was there for the transition to metal woods. The first club I wanted so badly was the original TM Burner Bubble followed closely by the Great Big Bertha. On the iron side, it was the the Wilson Ultra 45 with the firestick shafts as that's what John Daly played.
