What they should have done is have the guy find his ball and say,

“Man, this is terrible, I got not shot from here“

Then, Phil comes walking up from out of nowhere and says,

”Hold my beer”

And hit a great shot that spins back into the hole ; )

Yes, the gal in the 2nd clip with the yellow 'Go Phil' tee shirt is 'Joan' from my Phil Mickelson message forum on another board. She, and her sister, were such big fans of Phil that they went to 3-5 tournaments/year and wearing those obvious shirts. Phil had brought them inside the ropes a few times and had them join him for lunch in the clubhouse a couple of times.... and she resonated so much that she was chosen to be in that commercial. But she hates when I get down on Phil for..... being Phil (going for it and dropping unnecessary shots, lol).

I'm far from a Phil fan. Was pretty sure that I was going to hate this.

Kevin's character represents a typical golfer. Phil's character represents the reality of golf.

The commercial depicts that most people..................hit errant golf shots, take advice from the wrong people and drink beer to feel better.

Just my 2 cents.

I never drink beer while playing because I get googly-headed in the sun with beer. But there was a round last week where everything was so off (started off double-triple-double) that I surely would have downed one, or two, if I had them within reach.

One of the many endearing qualities of Lefty is his ability to laugh at himself and not take himself too seriously.

Years ago I played with a guy, his nickname was Whitey. He had gray hair in high school. Anyway, his game actually improved with an increase of booze. It's was just amazing that he NEVER drank away from the golf course. .

Yes sir that was clever and catchy, and I laughed aloud. The writer thought that line up and got it in the script deserves a bonus.

A few years back when wife at I were at a public club, we used to see this older guy all the time, teamed up with this younger fellow; it was a weird partnership, but I guess both of them would drink quite a few beers. Watching them dispose of the empties at the turn was always fascinating "honey, are you counting how many cans they are throwing away in the garbage, wow?.... was that 12 or 13 already? (and that was after 9 holes). My wife nick-named the older guy 'Happy Jack' because he was quite a character. Well, don't ask me why, but one time they caught up to us at the 10th tee and I said "you're welcome to play with us if you want". Then I started watching Happy Jack... he would down 1 beer per hole, and even on a short par-3, he'd guzzle it, crunch the can and toss it in the basket of the cart. I was more fascinated with watching his drinking proficiency more than my own golf.....sure enough, he had enough to carry the entire back nine, 1 per hole (and I knew he unloaded a boatload from the front 9). I mean, I was in college for a while, been to many a drinking party, and those college kids had nothing on this guy. Just like your guy, this fella wasn't that bad and I had to even step on my game to beat him. Amazing.

That sounds like a normal league night around here. Not me, never been a huge drinker. 3 beers for 9 holes in plenty.
