He played one of the most enjoyable rounds today I have seen in years. Last time I saw a round that crazy with as many up n downs was coincidentally last years US Open from Justin Rose. Oooohh, I've seen a lot more of Phil so I could go there, and never saw enough of Seve given TV coverage back in the day, but saw plenty - but . . . not going to commit on that one! I put those two in the "magical" category and still hold up Ray Floyd and Lee Trevino in the "were incredible but made it look like I could do it" category. Sure I'm missing some others (Watson was okay, lol), but those were the ones that stood out to me the most.

Oh, and there is that Tiger in the room - sometimes magical isn't a strong enough word!

Phil has some special skills but Seve only carried a 56* and had so much talent and touch around the greens. Built from similar moulds, definitely, but I'd give Seve the nod.

I got to watch Seve up close at Augusta in the mid 90’s .. trap genius. The stories of him beating other tour pros in bunker contests - WHILE USING a 4 IRON - are amazing

Nope, I think he is overrated.....(yeah I said it). I don't think he is in Tiger's league -especially out of bunkers. He is however way better than the rest.

A lot of pros have said Brett Rumford has the best short game these days.

Good thing the current world number #1032 Brett Rumford has such an awesome short game. Based on his most recent OWGR 24 months results he would be worse than Smylie Kaufman rankings wise w/o his incredible short game. If his short game was all that he wouldn't be ranked so low and continually be struggling. His numbers don't lie.

That is Tiger just being modest. He has more than doubled Mickelson in every meaningful golf category. Brooks schooled FIGJAM on (#10 I think) just about the time i posted this....also Phil went from greenside bunker to fairway in the same round. Yes I remember when Dave Pelz declared his man Phil the #1 player in the world.... OWGR NEVER said so. He is awesome and yet sooo overrated.

You don't know how poor his ballstriking is.

But short game is still one of the best.
