Best Rangefinder for Golfers over 70

I need to purchase a new rangefinder for my father. He has an older Busnhell that has stopped working. He doesn't wear a watch so a golf watch is out of the question.

Any suggestions would be great!

Precision Pro. Priced great and if he's a little shaky it locks on to the number excellent .

Any good quality laser should work fine when the right method is used. I aim at the flag itself (not the pole or reflectors) and sweep back and forth once or twice. The electronics will sense what's closest (the flag) and ignore everything else. I'm a senior and often do this one-handed and never have a problem getting a reading. The problem I see is people try to steady themselves and try to lock on to the reflector which is very difficult. I personally use the Bushnell V4 Shift which locks on very fast and is accurate.

Precision Pro hands down, read the reviews all over this forum and you will see great reviews about their CS, quality and price....on the other hand many complaints, over priced and CS issues form Bushnell. They all work very well now, multiple options at lower prices.

I wouldn't trade my Leopold for the world. Expensive, but super fast.

I gave up on the Precision Pro because the electronics are Slooooowwwww to lock in. Easily 4-5 seconds. The Leopold is near instant. That's the difference in the price in the electronics (CPU speed).

I using the Nikon Coolshot Pro Stabilized . I have shaky hands the it really stabilised the target. I was using the Bushnell previously. Thank you

Which model do you have? The basic one is slow, common complaint with them.

I've got the NX7. No slope.

My Leupold acquires fast, is compact and batteries last forever. Have had it for several years.

Not sure what an over 70 rangefinder is? Eats dinner at 4?

I have the "Nexus" which is their base model. Very frustrating to use. If you didn't know any better, maybe it wouldn't matter, but coming from Bushnell which took maybe 1/2 second to lock in, this was brutal.

You're correct about speed. I had a Bushnell and went to a Nikon Coolshot 20. Had it for two weeks and returned it because of speed (very slow to lock on past 175 yards). The guy at GG said it wasn't the first time he heard this. Traded for a Bushnell V4 and its lightning quick. The more expensive models do offer better performance in my opinion. Plus its durable. My first week it popped out of the cup holder and bounced down the cart path. That was about two years ago and other than a scratch on the case it works fine. (Carried it in my pocket ever since as its fairly compact).

My Leopold died, anyway, for 70 year old stabilization of the nIkon is key. Love it.

A watch does not need to be worn on the wrist to be functional, whether telling time or distance to flag. I hook my Garmin watch onto the bag riding on the trolley. No issues at all. Just look at the number.

+1 for the Bushnell V4 shift. Love the slope reading on this. My first and only rangefinder and have no reason to change.

The V4 doesn't need to be swept back and forth but that is my method for getting a quick reading one-handed.
