I LOVED my G25 hybrid. The head flew off at a busy range and I wasn't able to recover it. I bought a G400 because I loved the driver and fairway wood. It was good....but not as good as the G25. I heard all the buzz on the G410 and traded it on a G410....and hate it even more.

I do this every winter. I just buy stuff based on the buzz and reviews and then regret it.

Just go the opposite direction and hit everything and or think it. Try different shafts, then wait for next years model... oh and they are releasing a new shaft! Better wait a bit!

Did you tell the range workers it flew out there? I think they would have gotten it. Get a full bag fitting if you can. Will give you the perfect setup and you will keep them a long timeif your not a clubho

I think we have all done that at one time or another.

20 years ago it's pretty much what everyone did. In the UK anyway.

Rare pros may tape one up for you to but a couple with most you just got a waggle.

I go blind into almost everything, doesn’t always work but have done pretty well.

Don't feel so bad. Believe it or not, I very rarely try out clubs before I buy them since I buy my clubs used from Craigslist and Ebay so obviously I couldn't be able to try them out. What I do instead is research golf forums like this to see which clubs are universally praised years after its discontinuation. As a result, I buy those clubs based from that feedback.

9 times out of 10, those rumors and talk are true.

If I like it based on what I have read and seeing it I will buy it half the the time or more without hitting it. Just dumped a new set of XXIO Eleven irons and bought a set of Mavrik irons without hitting them first. This time it worked out fine, not so with the XXIO irons.

Not me! Other than the Cameron tringale Adams hybrid, the long drive head with a house of forged shaft, the cobra Ltd, the Bridgestone hybrid, the Adams cmb heads I’m currently getting shafted, the vokey wedge in my bag... the tank putter I bought with winnings from draining a 30 foot eagle putt in a club wide skins game... the Adams fast 12 ls I gamed before the Ltd... the s3 I gamed before that... oh, I also took some flyers on shafts!

basically the only club in extensively tested in my bag is my pitching wedge, and even that I got fit off a seven iron.

I ask myself the same question quite often......I think we all love the chase of trying to find that magic club or magic set.

Having said this I'm going for my first proper iron fitting in years to try to stop the insanity!

Youtube & Golfwrx are used for custom fitting. Actually yesterday, I stopped by Golfmart to trade-in ‘sparingly’ used Titleist 915 wood & Hybrids for a ‘Mint’ TaylorMade M5 Tour driver, I actually used their hitting bay with those computers running. I got a chance to spend an hour comparing drivers...yay I got the one that gave me the best numbers.

Which leads me to this question - Are those computers ‘souped up’ to add distance to your shots ? For a guy barely exceeding a 100 mph swing speed, I was driving that M5 in the 270s ?

I've never hit any club before buying it, with the exception of my SC Newport.

I do research thoroughly before buying, and get new clubs at a fraction of their new retail prices.

It's fun to live dangerously sometimes. The only club in my bag currently i hit before buying was my Hybrid

but the intrigue of trying a new iron will never die...... the chase is often the best part of the journey (not the destination)

Next season you will want new irons...it's a disease. :-)

I am fairly certain some of them are. I know my distances, and when I see something way beyond the norm, I take it with a grain of salt. Sometimes the stores will let you take a demo club to try either on your range or on the course. If you can do this, you will know if you are experiencing legit gains.

You've got to head that head back and get it re glued.

Those are still my favorite hybrids.

The only fitting I ever had was basically an eyeball from the local pro. He did take a couple of measurements and reviewed my swing hitting a couple of clubs. But that's it.

A fool and his money are soon parted.

Lol I was just thinking the same thing after buying irons with shafts I knew were going to be too heavy. Unfortunately it was the only shaft offered. Now do I re-shaft or do I sell them and just buy different irons

Depending on the shaft, you might be better off just buying new irons.

Already sold them LOL. Looking into buying either Srixon 585/785 combo set or Mizuno Forged with shafts that would fit me better
