Is Taylormade replacing the P760 anytime soon?

Tempted by P760 but seems they've been around a while and surely the replacement is in the pipeline? any news?

Not much to improve on... But I would assume fall of this year.

It should be coming soon I would think. By soon I mean in the next 12 months.

I'm also assuming this fall, since P series has been on a 2 year cycle and this is the second season for the P760.

I heard from someone reputable that there's going to be a new blade and new iron to replace the p760 this fall

Ian from TXG mentioned in a recent Q&A that Taylormade is coming out with a new player's iron later this year.

Anyone have any more info? Fingers crossed for a simpler carbon steel + tungsten construction, and no foam. Would prefer a uniform feel throughout the set ideally.

I feel the 760's are very underrated. They could iprove the feel, but the looks and performance is up there with any players iron...

I had a conversation a couple of months ago with info regarding that there is a new replacement that may be targeted toward the 770. Don't expect to see them go with less tech. They are not going to go backwards trust me.

The next player's "blade" won't just be a "re-shaped" version. The interesting thing will be to see if they go with inserting a tungsten disc into the back of the sweet spot (ala TW's). That move is costly to do though.

A replacement or two is coming this summer, depending on tour feedback and testing. Only what I've heard, dont have anymore info than that. Guessing we'll see it around july like the gen 2 790s

In Matts iron fit today (TXG) he didn't hit P760 because Ian said they were being replaced later this summer and Matt didn't want to get into something that's about to be not current model. Ian said there was a lot of Buzz and Hype around the model that's replacing P760.

Love the looks of the 760s.

Toss up between them, Mizzy MP20s and the new Wilson Staff sticks.

Played the 770s then switched to MP 18 SC irons for last season. Both were great.

Anyone have any comparison info. between the 770s and 760s?

760's are probably the best players cavity TM has brought out in a while IMO. Super forgiving for their size, feel great and sound great. I'm kiiiiind of disappointed he didn't at least try them out again.... I sort of think Matt went in wanting/expecting T100's to be honest. So what if your irons will be old...it's not like he isn't going to end and demo the new irons anyway. I'm excited for them... mostly just to see what they look like. I remember people hating on the P760 looks at first but honestly I like them now.

Will be interesting to see what they come out with. Liked the P760 but didn't buy them more so due to the cost it would have been to get to my specs since TM refuses to make a simple swing weight increase.

I saw that too. I’ve tried a lot of irons over the last year or so and the P760 is my favorite by a solid margin.

Yes, the TXG fitting today was a done deal before it started. It was always going to be T100. Matt wants what Ian likes. Clear to see. I wish they could do a real fit that wasn't so predetermined. I believe they feel they're being completely objective, but they simply didn't try enough combinations like Ian did in his fitting. You can't go wrong with T100 though.

Could not agree less with this. Ian and Matt both know what works. They do this day in and day out. They selected the iron that works best for what they wanted. Go and read there comments today on you tube, It explains this even further also.

It’s funny, I bought the Z765s before TXG was on YouTube. Based on the fact both the guys loved the Z765s and now the T100, I tried them out. The T100 look nice from top but they spun too much for me.

I’ve never owned TaylorMade irons before, but I’m interested to what the new ones are going to be. I was thinking of getting fit for irons because I’ve had the Z765s since they were released. Guess I’ll wait.

To be fair Matt has hit every head leading up to it. I doubt he’ll score better than with what he had before. It was nice to see the live video without all his misses edited out too. With all the edits on the club reviews you’d think he’s a better iron player than Adam Scott.

From what I understand the 770's have a replacement coming out in the fall. Now I don't know if that club will replace both the 760 and the 770s. The 760s have less offset than the 770. I have had the 760s since their release, I love them. They were just featured in the Equipment test issue of Golf so I would think they are "too long in the tooth".

I would wish for a replacement that is a true CB, without any foam, but I do not think TM will go "backwards" in tech.

I'd like to see more of a "players shape" that's not as progressive through the set. I enjoy the feel of the speedfoam and wouldn't mind it in 3-PW. Would just like a little smaller blade and thinner topline/sole. I think they could have 4 sets in their offering: TW/ Pure Blade, Modern Forged MB/CB Blend (similar to JPX Tours), Players P760, and the current P790. There'd be no need for anything else and they could easily be blended if cosmetics all matched.

Hope for something more like the 750s. Love them in every possible way which is why they've stayed in the bag for so long, only wish I would have gone for the full set.

Don't mind the speedfoam in the 760s but the shape just isnt doing it for me. Give me a more slim version of the 790s so you get three blade style irons with varying amounts of foam/forgiveness
