Lower spinning EvenFlow Black

Lip1337

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

spinning my driver a few rpm too high.. I easily lose 10 yds carry with 2800-2900 rpm of backspin.

i love the shaft... but I need a little less spin. Can you suggest comparable shafts which spin less?

never hit the EF White, maybe a good point to start?

thx

lower your loft first. 10.5 degrees maybe too much for you...

Lowering loft make my strikes much more inconsistent... I don’t know why

Would like to stay with the 10,5* setting

Evenflow White has lowest launch/spin of that particular line, so I would start there. I've never tried the Black, but White is perfect for me, best driver shaft I've tried in years.

Also agree with SecondShot, play around with your loft - no shaft is going to have as much influence on launch/spin as your static/dynamic loft does.

So if you struggle with consistency with lower spin. Why are you going to decrease it?

Lowering 1 degrees could decrease spin by around 300-500 rpm...

Just out of curiosity and for my own knowledge, what makes the White quite a bit different from the Black?

I tried to lower spin by lowering the loft:

9*

IFCV2AERA0G8.jpeg

10,5*

0ZHKZMAHWGKK.jpegResults are nearly the same but I could hit that shot at 10,5* much MORE often. The shot at 10.5* was even a little pushy.

ball was TP5x

we will se what the White EF gives me next week.

move impact 1/8" higher on the face for each 240 rpm you wants to lower spin, its that easy, no shaft change is needed, no loft adjustments neededhttps://forums.golfwrx.com/discussion/909991/diy-driver-tune-up-diy-fitting/p1

obviously i´m not capable of hitting it 1/8 or 1/4" higher in the face... these are very consistent numbers on normal strikes.

If the White is not the right shaft i´ll go back to the black. we´ll see

No, you have just not learned how to do it, yet. You are capable but need to move the ball forward slighlty, tilt your shoulders 15* down and strike up at the ball. In a week or two of concerted effort, it will become ingrained. It the ball gets too high and "knucklely" ( is that a word?), move it back a little until you get the desired results.

Lower loft

change head

change ball

get lessons to change strike point

change shaft

Those are the things you should do to lower spin. In that order.

Dont get this wrong, but you are betting money on that a shaft will move impact higher on the face, because thats your issue and what it takes to solve it. Trust me, spend 10 minutes and read that DIY driver tune up, it has helped many thousands players around the world with the same issue, and its all for free and dont demand any special tools at all, it helps you to tune up your driver so you can move impact and make it stay in the ideal area, NO shaft can do that for you, and you got nothing to loose here, unless you turn that free offer down, and that might send you on a forever lasting trace for the unicorn that dont excist because there aint no magic in shafts, they are a feel matter mostly.

Shafts being marketed in different launch/spin profiles is probably the biggest marketing illusion in golf

Shafts have different flexes, weights, profiles, etc. Every person will react to those variables differently. There are no absolutes. One may spin low for someone may spin higher for the next person - that is because the shaft is influencing the swing enough to move strike location.

Club head delivery is all that matters. A ball struck by the same driver head in the same exact location with the same speed, path and angle of attack will have the exact same spin - it doesnt matter if there is a "low spin" or "high spin" shaft attached to the club head.

after lowering the loft multiple times, trying different heads from different brands.

i changed the ball to the TourBX (just was not available in the Sim today)

in spring i will have few hours with a Pro

and tomorrow ill receive a new shaft, which is a demo shaft and was not very expensive.

i think i tried quiet a few things to get spin down.

like i said: changing the shaft is not the first thing i changed.. maybe it helps, maybe not... the evenflow black will be still available if the white doesnt affect spin!

100% CORRECT, and i was on the top 10 list of "Tour Issue shaft pushers" globally, so i know how both club heads and shaft works, and the shafts job is to deliver play length, addition to total weight and balance and the largest part FEEL.

ONLY if the shaft itself adds to much dynamic loft and that way adds to much spin (with a good impact position), we can lower launch and spin, but very limited, so before we are able to judge return values at all, we have to look at impact position on the face. Those who ignores this will only improve by pure luck and a shaft that for some reason moved impact to a better area of the face.

To judge the shaft and addition to Dynamic loft, here is the formula.

Launch angle is 0.84 of Dynamic loft, and Dynamic loft is the sum of Static loft (on the impact position who can vary by up to 5 from low to high on the face) + Angle of attack, plus forward shaft bending.

If i had the OPs numbers for launch, AOA and static loft, we could do the math and SEE how much the shaft itself delivered as dynamic loft, its that easy, but non of this makes sense before we know impact location since vertical gear effects is the absolute ruler of spin, NOT dynamic loft, NOT angle of attack, NOT Static loft, they are ALL overruled by Vertical gear effects due to impact location.

I know that Shafts change or affect Swings so you may deliver the clubface with different parameters. Sothat simply doesn´t help.

If someone´s out there who cares, i will share my experiences if the EF White will affect my swing to get lower spin. (I hope that was right, to say the Shaft affects my swing not the shaft is lower spinning.)

Thats also correct, club specs FORCES the player to adjust his swing for the better or worse, thats what weight, balance, profile and feel of flex does, and even a player with 7.5* loft using a low launch low spin shaft and has a angle of attack of plus 5* can generate more than 4000 rpm of spin if he makes impact low on the face.

The other way, a high lofted driver with 13* static loft, a High launch High spin shaft and negative angle of attack can get HIGH launch and spin values below 2000 due to impact position, and its crazy this aint common knowledge, because thats how the DRIVER we play works real life....

We should look for another shaft is Weight or Feel aint like we want it, not for ball flight or spin reasons, thats a big mistake because the shaft aint the problem when spin levels is up against 3000, its IMPACT LOCATION thats to low on the face, so start by looking at where you make impact.

U1SUMFT0MX0G.pngSoooo... hit it with the EF White today. And wasn’t hitting a shot in a week, I was striking it overall not very good today.

results were good... that’s a 4 shot average (took out one shot and after these shots I started to swing really bad), the results above with EF Black were (for me) perfect strikes (no averages)

Seems like it should change the launch numbers minimal. I will test that a few times.

the White feels totally different to the Black... but not bad in any way
