Met Curtis Strange once

He was a complete jerk.

1990 or 1991 maybe. I was a young whipper snapper and asked Curtis for and autograph. He asked for a sharpie and I said I didn't have one so he kept walking by.

30 years later you bring this up and think him a jerk because you didn't have a sharpie and he didn't either? ROFL.

I met him on numerous occasions......All the women around Kingsmill thought he was god......The men, not so much.

I met Frank Lickliter III once but I'm not gonna start a thread over it.

My wife had a drink and conversation with Chev Reavie, and that's all that happened there. Nice guy.

I watched Lumpy come into a hospitality tent (after a round at TPC Sawgrass) and polish off the buffet in front of us.

It was both infuriating (we were hungry) and amazing (the dude could eat).

I bet you never went anywhere without a Sharpie in your pocket after that. Thank you, Curtis!

I worked on the Woods Course for years in maintenance. We would know when he was playing so we could sulk up into the woods if we even saw his cart. He got vocal with us lowly grass cutting folks a few times. Basically, we couldn't make eye contact.

I did some reading about Curtis Strange and it's my contention that a few souvenirs from the air and space museum do not constitute a serious art collection. I'm done with this guy.

I met him at Loxahatchee Club in Florida. Was he the nicest guy ever? No. But, certainly wasn’t thread-worthy-bad either!

I went to elementary school, middle school, and two years of high school with Curtis and Allen. We weren't close friends, but knew each other pretty well.

I'd say he was an introverted, driven kid, with a chip on his shoulder, especially after his dad died young. Curtis was no country club kid. I've talked to him as an adult. He's mellowed a bit.

Saw him at Kingsmill as he was going to the range in a cart, 1992. He stopped and chatted maybe two minutes. Was wearing jeans, Nike golf shoes, and had two beers in the cart.

He's a good 'ole boy. for sure.

I guess Kingsmill was the only neighborhood around that was set up that way Back then. Gated, own security, 3 private golf courses. It was quite fancy back then. Aunt and Uncle lived there for many years. The second house they bought in there was on the second green of the River Course. Thought they were nuts to move in the same neighborhood until I saw the place. Nice upgrade. Tournament time was fun. Just sat on their deck.

I think sometimes too much is expected from golfers. They have a job to do. Whether is practicing at the tournament site or during the event.

So basically, Curtis gave you a curt response. Strange.

He comes by our sod farm in eastern NC occasionally to pick up sod for his beach house. Was chatting him up one day about the young guns in the game and I told him my 5 year old loved to play golf. About an hour later the ladies in the office called me in the field and said I needed to call Curtis strange! So I did. He offered my son and I tickets and hospitality to the us jr am in pinehurst as he was working it any day we wanted to make it. Said he wanted to give back to the game and thought it was neat that such a young kid loved the game! So In my opinion I’m a fan for life. Guess it just depends on the day!!

Honestly, you never know with these youngsters how successful they will be.

Most of them talked a big game but end up failing to meet expectations. Strange knows how hard it is to win a tournament, so I don't think his statement was out of context at the time.

I first saw Novak Djokovic play in 2007 and he was lauded to be the next GOAT. I didn't believe it. Look at him now!
