Martin Trainer is the Defending Champion and is back this week as it was his only top 10 finish of the season

This may be a tournament you DON'T want to win. Since the event's inception in 2008, not one of the winners has gone on to win another PGA Tour event including Tony Finau. Michael Bradley has won the event twice, but not elsewhere.

However, second place is not so bad. Jason Day was the runner up in 2009, Jordan Spieth in 2013 and Bryson DeChambeau in 2017, all went on to big success later.

Jesus. Someone let that human rain delay, Andrew Loupe, in the field.

I'm sure someone is leading this tournament, and I hope he continues to play well and win.

Do top 10 finishers in this tournament get into the Honda? I see alot of struggling journeyman and KF grad types playing (as expected in an alternate event).

The winner gets the full two year exemption and a spot in the TPC, the T of C and the PGA.

What a last birdie putt for Viktor Hovland and first win. Crazy back nine, triple bogey on 11 and the rain on final holes. Congrats to Viktor!

As I mentioned in the first post, maybe not a good thing to win this tournament.

Unfortunately, the future of this tournament is uncertain. There may be no 2021 edition.

Viktor Hovland wins in his 17th tournament played.

He is now in the PGA, the TPC, the T of C, Memorial, Bay Hill and Colonial.

He is not currently in The Masters, but he is projected to move to #60 in the OWGR. If he doesn't get to the top 50, he could get a special invitation.

Last February Viktor Hovalnd, Collin Morikawa and Matthew Wolff were in college. One year later they all have won on the PGA Tour.

Forgot to mention, but it should be obvious, He is the first Norwegian winner on the PGA Tour.

Kristoffer Ventura also from Norway and Oklahoma State finished T20th. He was born in Mexico.

Those were some impressive chip ins and a great long putt on 18 to secure the victory for Viktor. I felt bad for Teater as that may have been the best chance he will ever get to win on the PGA Tour. If Viktor can keep improving on that short game he is going to be one of the very best on tour for a long time. His ball striking is already fantastic.

So happy for Viktor.

I was there today. Followed the Hovland/Laird group for the first nine holes. There was only a handful of people walking alongside then. Looked like more people joined later on.

Felt very much like a “normal”, non-competitive round of golf, which was fun and kind of strange at the same time. I noticed that quite a few other groupings didn’t have a single spectator walking with them.

The course was not spectacular, but the staff was friendly and everything was very easy going and accessible. Had a nice day.

Ya you feel for the guy, sounded heartbroken in his after the round interview.

I just googled the interview. Man that was a tough one to watch. But then I looked up his career earnings of $6MM.

Awesome win! These young guns are doing well, getting their first wins to get in the door. Now they can concentrate and begin the next wave!

Purely from a technical perspective Viktor's golf swing is the next big thing. He seems to have the temperament as well.

Hard not to root for Viktor, and his post win speech was pretty funny too. "I just suck at chipping" with a big laugh. A short game on this kid will make him a force. Seems like he has a pretty good personality too.
