Any downside to fixing a gapping issue by doing this?

My set PW is leaving a gapping issue between it and my 9i. I think this was my fault because when I ordered my Apex CF19's I ordered them 1/2 inch short across all the irons. Probably should have left the PW at the standard length. If I leave this as is, then I have to hit a soft 9i in order to make up for the gapping issue.

My possible solution is to put in another PW (Rogue X) that has a stronger loft and 1/4 inch longer than the Apex PW that eliminates the gapping issue. It also has a lighter shaft than the Apex set.

Any downside to doing this?

Alternatively, I could order a new Apex CF19's PW that is standard length and that would probably fix the issue.

Why not just get a 1/2 inch spacer put in the PW and call it a day? Seems like a good quick and dirty solution.

Might also want to check lofts and make sure it and the 9i are where they need to be.

I'd stick with "like" clubs as much as possible, personally...

Distance gap? I have a similar problem between my 42* 9i and 48* PW. To shave 9i yardage I choke down a half inch. To add a couple of PW yards I play ball back an inch and deloft the club.
A shaft extender would be a better option than Rogue X.
I cringe when people mention Rogue X irons in terms of accuracy.

Would strengthening the loft be out of the question? I’ve never found lengthening a club does much for distance. My irons are all 1.25” long and I hit a standard length club the same distance just with lower launch and more spin. Adding length could do more harm finding the center of the club face and would have to go along with a lie adjustment. I say, depending on the gap, take a degree or so off it. What is the 9-PW gap in yardage and what is gap to your next wedge?

Why not just reshaft the PW? Personally, I dont mind an extension on a putter but I have broken an extension in an iron. It's a pain.

When I custom ordered my Apex CF19's, I should have left the PW at the standard length. Cutting it down a 1/2 inch makes it feel really too short. I may get it re-shafted. Or, I may just order a new one with a 1* stronger loft and standard length.

Sounds like throwing the Rogue X (yes, I don't care for them either) in there is a no-no.

Ahhh. Got it. Yeah I would look to reshaft but also consider the loft for the gap issue. I have some clubs that are 3° gaps and some that are 5° After starting out with a 4° progression in my bag to make up for gapping issues. I’ve never found length alone to help with that.

I don’t think you need to reorder a new club. Shafts are less expensive and accomplishes the same thing after a little lie adjustment. Then while it’s on there for lie just have the loft tweaked
