SIM Max D

Has anyone had a chance to directly compare this to the Max and regular SIM?

I know that it will be draw biased and probably spin a bit more but I was reading a review in the Golf mag equipment issue and they mentioned that it does a good job of keeping spin down. I like the deeper face and would consider giving it a shot if it doesn’t spin too much.

After several range sessions with the regular SIM... I suck at life. I think I need the Max D. I need to be realistic. I tried it in the on GC Quad several times and it was higher spin that the regular SIM, but in the real world I think I need the MAX D.

This is me. I didn't have great results with the MAX so I sold it and ordered the MAX-D. Should recieve if next week.

What driver were you guys playing before?

M6 and then M5. Sim feels great and love the look. I just the help.

I seem to match up well with the D Type drivers and the Ping SFT drivers. The SIM D Type is a nice looking shape. The heel weighting does not make them hook for me, I hit them squarer than I do with neutral weighting. I also like deep faces so it could be I’m just comfortable with the look. Would not hesitate at all to play one if the fit was right. I can fade them, draw them, for me they just square up nicely at impact. Granted, I’ve never fought a hook, my miss is to get quick and come over the top which can produce a cut or a pull that flies dead straight, but left of target. I don’t spin them more or less than any other head but if spin is too high, I always lower the loft to bring that down.

Bumping this thread. I’ve been thinking about trying the Max D too mostly because I like the deeper face. To me it also looks shorter front to back but that may be just a illusion. I loved the look and feel of the regular SIM and the Sim Max but could not keep them from cutting on me. Just curious if anyone else has gone this route. 

I bought a SIM MAX D after reading about Keegan Bradley using one. I struggled a bit with the Sim Max fading too much. I hot melted the head in a neutral position to 198 grams. Picked up a real Ventus Velocore blue shaft in stiff. I’m playing it untipped at 45.25”. It’s very straight. I think the lie angle is a degree or 2 more upright which helps. I believe that taylormade should have marketed this driver to the general public instead of the Sim Max.

I’m going to have to pick one up. I love the deeper face. I remember the D model was the first SIM I saw in person and loved it. Than when I saw the other 2 I was bummed about the face hight. Might as well try them all! 😆 

Keegan Bradley has since dumped the SIM Max D and gone with the M5..

2 rounds in with the Max D driver and loving it! This thing just wants to go straight. I really don’t think it spins any more than the regular Max. It’s got 10g less weight in the back than my Max had. I’m playing tomorrow and got a new shaft for it that I’ve wanted to try for awhile now. The Aldila tour green with graphene. Should make it a low spin monster now! 

My natural shot is a draw, which when I get quick turns into a hook.  I like a deep faced driver as I tee it high with a +AOA.  My previous driver was a M5, which I loved but wanted to try a SIM.  I bought a used SIM Max D off eBay in a 10.5, opened it up to 8.5 and added some tungsten weight cubes to the toe to counteract the draw bias, and to add the weight I needed for a 44 inch driver shaft.  I am pleased with the experiment thus far, it definitely is not a hook machine for me with this setup.  I can work it both ways as needed.  I am still playing around with various shafts, and experimenting.  I added some more tungsten cubes under the stock back weight as well.
