Modus 120x..or tx

Hi all...I was fit recently into the new mizuno irons and the shaft that performed the best for me was the Modus 120 x hardstepped...

The problem is the clubs were too short for me. Fitter mentioned to me that they can get + 2 inches out of the irons while being hardstepped..I need then a bit longer..

My question is if any of you have experience with modus in overlength builds...

Should I just extend these irons with the hardstepped 120x or would the modus 120tx be stiff enough straight in and allow me to get the proper length...I am 7 ft tall

I'll let someone else who is tall/has fit very tall folks before comment but if you're going +2 inches I'd be inclined to look go to the stiffer flex maybe even hardstepped... at +2 inches that is not going to play like a TX.

I can only comment on my experience. I just built a set of Miura CB 57s with Nippon 120TX and they are the best shafts I have ever hit. They lowered my ball flight like some other shafts (C-taper, Project X) out there, but they play soooo much smoother.

Congrats on the CB57's and finding a shaft that suits you. I'm still getting used to my Miura's

i did not work with Nippon shafts, less than a hand full sets, and if 2.0" inch above standard is target, we have tons of issues here...

Modus 120 Ei profile butt side say its a profile that "stay in flex" or slightly softer, but thats when we use the same SW, but if the test was done using standard PL and head weight, Mizuno B weight or minus 7 grams only compensate for 0.5" inch, so we go 9 SWP up, D2 becomes E1, (even with B weight heads) and the clubs plays a full flex softer than the test club, but SW itself might be a issue just as large. For a build like this, TX flex sound more like it, but SW that high might still be a issue. Its the short end on the set that must not be too short for the OP, so this is a case where we has to go as short as possible, so if 1.5" plus can make it for the #9 and PW, do not stretch it further. We might still have a head weight / SW issue, and X HS1 will NOT play like the test club, so i suggest the OP gets a Modus 120 TX shaft and try off in a single club (one of the short irons, to find how short can you go and still have a good stance, AND to try off the consequence of SW to the higher side, both for feel of head wgt and flex)

Whoa...that’s some variables. How bout getting a couple 6 iron shafts built to specs, go hit them, see which one feels best and gets the numbers you’re looking for...before purchasing your entire iron/wedge set.
