Patrick Reed's irons

I know Reed's irons are custom made forgings of the highest quality, but I feel like the aesthetics make them look cheap. Reminds of a Golfsmith or other component brands version of a blade. The cursive font, and the word 'Forged' stamped on it. I think a better play would be to just leave them blank with the club number and his initials stamped.

Beveled back edge so it doesn't dig as much on the back swing is a nice touch!

Whats the deal w/ the back edge of the top line in the OP's pic? It's like the narrowest piece of lead tape ever...or is the chrome flaking off?

The good thing about having his name on them is that someone is less likely to steal them out of his locker compared to if it had a general brand name like say... "Scotty Cameron".

Do you think someone is going to steal a tour player's clubs out of the locker room at a tour stop?

Are these the ones he uses to tamp down the rough behind the ball so he can then hit a wood?

It would be nice if we could stick to the design and aesthetics of the irons and not whether he is a cheater.

"I think a better player..." sorry @bowilbury8, better player this weekend was Reed. He won, using those irons. They remind me of the MacGregor MT irons of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Sleek look with a couple of bold emblazons mixed in.

I'm making a comment on the design of the irons. I actually like Patrick Reed a lot, his game/swing, not the attitude. I get the feeling they had to put something on there instead of leaving them blank and they just slapped that stuff on there.

I like the way the script looks on the club. I think it is pretty cool to see his bag full of different OEMs and personalization that most golfers could only dream of obtaining.

I agree the “Forged” is silly, but the font and logo don’t bother me. Nice looking clubs.

Reed plays like a man who has seen a lot of bad things, has done a lot of bad things, and just keeps going. Remarkable ability to focus. Eight wins on Tour including a major and two WGC wins is already a better career than the vast majority of Tour players will ever achieve.

And I do not doubt the multiple accounts of those who saw him improve his lie in the past. He knows he’s guilty, he’s now just stuck with sticking to a foolish defense. Doubtful it will happen again, either because he’s learned his lesson or because everyone is watching him, along with the cameras.

Right - we"ll focus on how cheap his irons look because that was so necessary.

I like the logo, and most forged clubs tell you that they're forged somewhere.

Just get rid of his name, and they'd look really good.

I love Reed's attitude. He knows the reputations he has and he knows that he has partly earned it. He basically just sticks two middle fingers in the air and keeps on playing... and winning! Love it!!! If you are going to be arrogant, you better be good and he is plenty of both!

Also, the irons look ok but I would expect nicer.

Just goes to show you that many of the top players (in any sport) only care about function and are not focused on aesthetics because they don't have to be posers on the field of play. Patrick Reed is a free agent who doesn't play to sell clubs but goes out each and every tournament he's entered in to win. It might also have to do with the fact that he is sponsored by Nike, similar to Brooks Koepka, and would rather have the best functioning equipment for his game rather than get paid to play certain clubs.

Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson, Walter Hagen, Bobby Jones, etc....all had their signatures on golf clubs at one time or another. Doesn't seem all that weird that Patrick Reed would want to emulate them.
