SkyTrak Golf Simulator Game Question

At our club I was watching several people in a match on a course with SkyTrak. (yes, we have indoor leagues as well as outdoor).

But I noticed they were not changing the indicator to a specified club when hitting tee shot, then fairway shot, etc, putting too. I think they left it on 6-iron or whatever it was last set to without changing on the next iron/driver/putter in sequence during their play. Would that affect the resulting flight distances of the ball? They said "we were told we didn't have to change that".

A true launch monitor(which skytrak is), measures the ball launch. Ball speed, Launch angle(horizontal and vertical), Spin and Spin Axis.

All of those parameters give you ability to estimate a ball flight.

Club data or measurements have 0 impact on the estimation of a ballflight.

One can kind of cheat by not selecting the appropriate club for the GIVEN LIE. For instance, on TGC software, your ability to hit out heavy rough is much better with a high lofted wedge vs a fw metal. In this situation, the algorithm that gives total launch conditions would penalize an actual 3w shot from that lie, but if you have LW selected then you'll get a more favorable impact if still actually using your 3w to hit the shot. Basically, it's a way to get a preferred lie. I could be wrong, but that's my observation.

Carry with 3w from perfect strike off garage mat:

LW selected(heavy rough): ~220

3w selected(heavy rough):~180

I have a Skytrak and always prefer to chose the correct club for each shot. Especially more important around the greens for chipping (club & type of shot - lob, chip, etc) or putting off the green.

Hum...didn't know that Princey. I use e6 Connect so...

e6 Connect does track every shot during a round and then compiles very detailed analytics you can view later. If you don't select the correct club for each shot that data will be worthless.
