Going Thursday morning early. I have never been despite living about an hour away. Going to be cold and windy (as it always seems to be at the Honda). My fav tee times:

    735 - Fowler, Hovland, Neimann

    745 - Rose, Horschel, Fleetwood

1215 - Luke Donal, Cink, Vijay

    1225 - Lowry, Woodland, Oosthuizen

    Van Rooyen at 50/1.

Hmmm. I might put $1K on the bearded man in his kid's pajama bottoms for that kinda payout...

Yesss FL swing and things heat up on tour. Disappointed in the WGC Mexico. Not the best watch.

The interesting courses of the West Coast are done and now we have courses which by and large look the same until we get to Augusta.

****, I live here in FL and agree with that. Most of our courses all look the same.

Bay Hill looks different to me because I'm usually there in person. But yep, mostly flat, water, a few palms. Kinda boring.

What that course needs is more water. Just go ahead and do 18 island greens and get it over with.

And after perusing the satellite images the more I think what it would really be suited for is jet boat races in the lakes and canals. Frankly I am disappointed a bit that the canals are not all interconnected and you can't get out to the waterway to get out to the ocean proper from the course and housing.

Not the worst either. I agree it was not exactly epic, the holes down the stretch at chatachuwhatever gives no room for drama, but good guys up there and I quite enjoyed it. Not as much as our western, rich, neighbours enjoyed the Puerto Rico event but it was ok.

that said, PGA national is certainly a course that can produce drama. Its normally what I see as the start of the most interesting part of the US tour. The field is not as strong as with earlier schedules but good enough, with Koepka and a strong international participation. Van Rooyen has been going stronger and stronger and seems to become the next top south afrrican. But those pants aint pretty.

True, but I think they are interesting and a good warm up for Augusta. The Honda is windy and the bear trap is fun too watch. Bay hill is iconic. Copperhead no comment never seem to watch that one, and the Players is a great one I like that it is earlier in the year now.

I'm seriously considering wearing a pair to my Sunday skins game. I think it could give me an advantage over the competition. Anything to mess with their minds.

Flushem didn't give us the over/under on the number of times the words "Bear Trap" will be used this week. I think it's 612.

    OWGR update

SoF 267 with first place points of 46

That is down slightly from last year's 298/48

Rory will stay #1 even if Brooks wins

    The Monday qualifier field had

12 players with at least 1 PGA Tour win and 23 total wins

41 total Korn Ferry Tour wins

    5612 career starts

and career earnings of over $200,000,000

Whenever I'm watching the Honda, I feel like they just weren't able to get enough housing in close proximity to the course. Should have put a couple right in the fairway, maybe a split fairway where you have to decide on the tee whether you're going to go left or right of the house.

The one that looks different is the small golf course over by the ocean that has a lot of sand, no canals and no houses lining both sides of the holes.

It's only 6836 yards, obviously not a championship course like the rest.

That Seminole place looks dumpy. Not even able to sell houses on it. Must be bad.

The PGA'S Florida swing has great tournaments on

great venues. Where else has the weather to play,

But, if you don't like it, you can always go out and shovel the

    snow ,

Having played Copperhead, I think it's one of the most underrated courses on tour.

Pretty much. It's on the heels of Riviera/WGC and just before Arnold Palmer/The Players.

I just feel for the API and a few other great tournaments that perished due to the schedule changes. While I'm not a fan of the idea, maybe this other golf league will be good for the PGA Tour. Help them pull their heads out of their asses. A monopoly isn't good for anyone.

Eh...the API is doing just fine....the Honda and Valspar are suffering. As for the Florida swing - the API and TPC seems to be the strongest fields.

This deserves and probably has already been covered, but I know you are closer to the situation than I so I am looking for your opinion. Do you think the other tournaments surround the API and The Players suffer because there are four Florida events together or does that make it easier for the players to attend? Or is it simply a matter of guys not wanting to play four events in a row and since most live in Florida it makes sense logistically to sneak a break in between those four events?

My personal thought is that the PGA Tour should group their swings as geographically as possible. Texas tournaments together, west coast, florida, carolinas/east coast and northeast/upper midwest/canada. I get most guys aren't driving or taking trains but I do feel like the season benefits from logical flow. But it may not make a difference in terms of participation.
