How do these numbers look

First off I hope this is in the right forum, sorry mods if it isn't please move.

Anyway a little bit about myself first. 62 years old and in great physical shape, athletic build and work out 6 days a week. Been playing ( serious golf ) for probably 10 years and mostly on weekends. Even though I'm 62 most people when they look at me think I should hit the ball further. To be honest so do I, I know my chest size limits my back swing to some point so there is that to deal with along with the fact that I'm just plain getting older.

So I went to Golf-Tec the other day, not for a fitting but just to get a chance to see what my driver numbers were. I was fitted for my irons and have no issues with those. So anyway here they are, I would love some input on you fitters out there if you see anything obvious. Current set up is in my signature. For what it's worth my 150 club is my 8 iron.

 

Swing speed: averaged 98

Ball speed: 137

Backspin: 2153

Launch: +11.5 degrees

Offline: 9 yards

Descent: 30.5

Distance: 256

You DONT get "payed" for your club speed, your Smash factor or PTR (power transfer ratio) is VERY LOW

Ball speed / club speed = PTR or smash, and yours is only 1.39, and we should try to get up to 1.50.

98 x 1.50 = 147 mph ball speed, so your impact on the face takes away 10 mph ball speed, thats the issue, and your launch is to the lower side if maximized carry is what you want.

Look into my DIY driver tune up, it helps you to locate VCOG (vertical center of gravity), and how to tune up your club to improve impact, ball speed and distance, and dont be surprised if club speed goes UP a little due to a better fitted club.https://forums.golfwrx.com/discussion/909991/diy-driver-tune-up-diy-fitting/p1

 

Since you are close to 100, im adding a chart for 150 mph ball speed so you can see how spin vs launch makes a difference to carry and potential total. GREEN fields is the longest carry for the actual launch angle RED numbers the shortest. Dont pay to much attention to total since fairway conditions is a part we dont have control over and this numbers is dry good rolling fairways.

@SEP1006 I'll echo what @Howard_Jones is saying. Your driver contact is poor for some reason. You need to figure out what's going on there.

Thanks for the above. Forgot to mention as well that my strikes were pretty much center of the driver. That is where my "wear" spot is and while I was there the impact tape showed I was pretty consistent with that at least.

if you actually makes center of the face impact and dont get more ball speed than what you get, then is something wrong with that club head. What Launch monitor is used to get those numbers? (it could be a estimate of club speed thats way to high, but i never seen this "much off"...) If it was Trackman or Flightscope, change club head.

It was a Foresight monitor.

 

Also just got through browsing through the initial post you made on DIY driver fitting, will go back and read in detail for sure. Man I wish I had someone with your insight and knowledge near me!!!!!!

if it was a CG2 but without the extra unit that MEASURE the club, it could be a large part of the answer, but still, 1.39 is "bad", so if others with first hand knowledge on CG2 can chime in, they might be able to explain better how that unit can return such a low PTR, so it might be a over estimate of club speed that makes it look like this.

If you throw out the clubspeed number from the data then the other numbers don't look too bad at all.

Offline of 9 yards suggests there isn't a lot of side spin (I know, it's really spin axis tilt) so I'm tempted to say that your driver speed is just low.

Do the LM numbers correlate to what you see on course?

Distance and dispersion yes. My average drive is probably around 250 - 260 and probably in the fairway 70% of the time with a bad miss being maybe 15 yards off-line. And that's typically left from an OTT move that slips in every now and then.

Yes i know, but im not a user of CG2 so i dont know it good enough, but my memory has something running about settings for club choice, so my thinking is it was set for irons who can explain the low PTR value, but those who use this monitor should know, i never cared to study this unit but know its "generous" on distance.

Okay I didn't know the difference with all these monitors. All the numbers I posted were from the Foresight monitor at Golftec with the exception of my SS. I got that from Trackman while I was being fitted for the PXG's. I asked the fitter if I could swing my driver a few times so that I would know it out of curiousity.

My 6i swing speed was 82 - 85 if I remember correctly and I hit it 170 yards.
