Anyone try yellow golf balls and NOT like them?

I do not like the yellow or nearly every other color. I find that they are harder to see in the air and worse on the ground. The only concession I will make is in the fall with all the leaves on the ground, I will hit a pink ball off the tee. There are no colors in the fall like pink and they are a little easier to spot among the leaves.

I'm in the camp that believes using Volvik and Premium in the same sentence is a conflict of terms.

I couldnโ€™t agree more. Literally the only golf ball I couldnโ€™t even give away.

I played yellow all last year. I found them easier to track in the air and in the rough. This winter, I went to the eye doctor. My prescription changed significantly. Late January we were in Florida and my yellow balls were virtually invisible With my new contacts in my eyes. I had a hard time tracking my wifeโ€™s yellow ball too. I put a white ball in play and it was so much easier to see. I imagine this isnโ€™t typical but itโ€™s why Iโ€™m back in a white ball.

Lot of old timers are against the yellow ball, in my experience. The geezers make funny jokes about colors golf balls.

I like yellow golf balls. Basically, if I could, I would only use them. I will say there are better yellow than others. For instance, Nike Tour RZN Black in the VOLT finish was easy the best / nicest yellow golf ball made. The Titleist ProV1 / AVX yellow is nice. Srixons is okay. Bridgestones was very similar to the Nike. Snell was a smidge dull in color. Vice has that lime finish and though it's not yellow, it's definitely a poppy color (crap cover though).

Alright, I've said too much.

Every time I think about playing a yellow ball I think Iโ€™m hitting a range ball. So no yellow for me, or any other colour.

I ordered 3 dozen chrome softs from lost golf balls and when they arrived I discovered I accidentally ordered the yellow ones. Since I was my mistake I decided to just play them. Hated them at first and my first couple rounds were a distraction. Finally got through them and put a white ball back in play today and while it felt more natural putting and chipping I found that I spent more time looking for my ball in wash areas (desert golfer here). It was a little bit of a shock as that is a major departure from the yellow balls. At this point I could play either but Iโ€™m seriously debating the yellow just because if I hit 4 balls into a wash area and spend 3 minutes each looking for them, yellow balls might save a good amount of time per round.

I don't care for them from a mental distraction perspective. Also think that if you go yellow you have to consider the shade of yellow offered by your preferred ball maker, not all are the same. While some whites are only a bit different - yellow seems to have more shades.

Matte and other colors are even more distracting when setting up over the ball.

My buddies and I did some testing last year. We were in consensus that the yellow ball seemed closer to us, off the ground. It's kind of a weird observation but not all of us were bothered by that either. I've found personally that I don't seem to find the yellow balls on the course as much as I thought I would. Maybe it's because I'm used to white balls, maybe the yellow balls just don't stand out as much as you'd think they do. Either way, they're both hard to find when you hit them into the woods...

Honestly, I like the look of a yellow ball, but it really depends on my mood as to whether or not I will play a yellow ball that particular day. With my old and uncorrected vision, some days I see the yellow ball better than the white, some days I donโ€™t. Itโ€™s kind of weird honestly, but I just reach in the bag and grab what ever color I feel for the day. Yes, I have both white and yellow in my new preferred ball, the TM Tour Response...lol

I thought the 1982 orange Prostaff ball was cool at the time. Not anymore. Just like playing only white Pro V1x nowadays. Colored balls remind me of miniature golf balls or range practice balls.

I donโ€™t like yellow or any other bright colored golf balls. I have played the Callaway Truvis and I can play them. I donโ€™t think they are easier to spot or really add anything to my game. One of my friends plays bright colored balls and most of the time I cant see where his ball goes once itโ€™s in the air.

We all like tradition, and white golf balls are traditional. The sight of a new white golf ball on beautiful green grass is part of the game's history, and stirs something in many of us.

That said, I don't think I'll ever play a white golf ball again. I'm 67, and had a partial detachment of the retina in my right eye two years ago; lots of floaters, and when my brain adjusted and learned to ignore the floaters, it also often began to treat a golf ball in flight as just another floater when the ball gets out to 200 yds or more. I'm typically pretty straight off the driver, so it isn't a problem, really; just annoying.

I had already been using yellow balls in the winter simply because they are easier to follow and find in dormant Bermuda, but always went back to white balls when things greened up in the spring. Then last September, I went to see a a Champions Tour event, and had two Eureka moments about yellow golf balls:

At least a third, and maybe closer to half, of the guys on that Tour were using yellow golf balls, and most of them are a decade or more younger than me, including their eyes.More to the point, I realized that I could follow the shots of the guys who were hitting yellow balls a LOT better than I could the shots of the guys hitting white balls. A LOT better...That did it for me; I bought sleeve of yellow ProV1x's on the way home to use the next day, and then ordered 5 dozen yellow Snell MTB-x's as soon as I got home. I, too, like tradition. But I like seeing my golf ball land and roll a lot better.
