Indoor Putting Greens (merged)

Good morning all. I recently grabbed my launch monitor/simulator booth out of storage. I put it together and I came up with an idea to buy a indoor putting green in between my hitting mat and my screen that I hit into. Online it looks like something the size I’m looking for gets pretty damn expensive. I’m looking for a 9x10 green. If it’s as expensive as it looks, I’ll just go back to my original idea of green carpet or something. Anyway, does anyone know where I can buy a half way decent putting green that’s not too expensive? Thanks, GC ?

Check out Birdie balls. They have some decent mats. I currently am using the 4x10 and the only regret i have is not ordering the slowest speed as i ordered the middle of the road out of the 3 and it's quicker than a lot of courses in my area.

Ok. I’ll take a look. On that birdie balls green, does the green have some cushion to it? Or is it just like a thin carpet? I’m kind of wanting this green to double as a cushion as my balls hit off my screen and come back towards me. This is going on a cement floor. Thanks for your help

I'm finishing a basement and looking at options as well. Flooring Inc. (flooringinc.com/putting-green-turf.html) has good mats you can order in any size for ~$2.60 sq/ft - I ordered a couple samples and the Lime/Field Green one looks like that's what I'll go with. For padding, you can add a floating floor pad from Home Depot, which will run you another 40-90 cents sq/ft.

I'm looking at a 15x5 area, which should run me around $300 all-in with a couple cups and flags installing it my self. That's probably on par with Birdie Ball, which are just roll out mats, so I expect mine to be much nicer. There is also Pro Putt Systems, which are WAY expensive comparatively.

If you're putting in cups, you'll need to break/drill in to your cement floor - not super difficult, but you'll want to take the time to get it right.

I have a bridge ball too. I got one for Christmas from my wife and I love it.

Hey GC, I have a big Moss putting green in my screen porch area and it rolls really good has some cushion under it so works good on a hard floor.

Another vote for Big Moss. Love mine. Think they usually run specials/sales around The Masters.

New to the forums, not new to the content here. As I am sure most of you are in a similar situation, being in quarantine due to the recent COVID 19 pandemic, I have been trying to stay busy around the house. I have loved the idea of a putting green in my basement from the day we closed on our home 6+ years ago but this down time has sparked my intreuge more than ever.

My question(s) to the group are:

Does anyone have an indoor/basement putting green what kind do you have (brand, price, options, etc.)has anyone dabbled in/attempted a DIY putting green willing to share their success stories?Hope everyone stays healthy and safe!

I have a putting machine in my basement, JIF world of golf putting machine. I've seen it for $30.

Anyone try the golfsply or tour links?

Has anyone used a Big Boss mat on top of Astro Turf? the turf has a little give and I am wondering if the Boss mat would “move” and flex on top of it too much and not stay level.

Another Big Moss fan. I unfortunately have mine over carpet in my basement and due to that, you can't really stand on the putting surface since my carpet and pad beneath gives it too much flex. I usually stay off of it when putting or just on the outside edges. I have also had it on my hard wood floors and I think it works much better on those floors, usable either way though.

I bought a 5x12 and it was under 300. Rolls True. No Complaints.

Thank you all for the info, I will let you know what comes of this quarantine, all I know is I can only putt on carpet squares (which do roll pretty true) to a a couple randomly placed Lysol bottles for so long. I am longing for the sights and sounds of a ball falling into the cup.

Def go with the Big Moss Greens putting green. They roll so true

I'd stay away from BirdieBall though. Those are more just like a squishy foam that sinks when you stand on it

Finally got a nice subfloor down under my green, some 1" thick ply that was getting thrown out at work. Cut three new holes and now the ball falls into the hole, much nicer. Need some of those little plastic cups and flags now haha.

Just got a big moss competitor. A little quick compared to the greens I normally play but rolls true. Basement floor has a little right to left break to it and I am thinking about getting some osb to put underneath it and use some shims to level it off.

any other suggestions to get straighter putts?
