I'm surprised there is not already a thread on this. Believe this was confirmed that Justin Rose is no longer going to play the Honma clubs.

Haven't heard anything like that. He apparently has a clause in his contract that allows him some flexibility to use other brands as he pleases (i.e. the TW fairways and Vokey here and there, as well as the recent use of the SIM driver). Unless there has been something else...

If it's confirmed then I'm not surprised. He's tried several drivers but it's clearly a problem as he keeps going back to TM.

THey just launched a new line with him as their guy. I would be shocked by this.

So maybe add a question mark to the end of the title OP ? lol...

He's never been 14 clubs Honma. He's experimented with drivers, fairways, wedges - and the Axis putter of course.

This seems like speculation for the time being.

TBH, he's done a ton for Honma in the year he's been with them for the brand than they've ever had before. They had credibility and brand recognition outside of Asia. But all things come to an end, right?

His deal with Honma is 10 clubs so as soon as you see less than 10 Honmas in his bag it's pretty safe to say he's either done with them or renegotiated his deal. Renegotiating a 10 club deal to fewer clubs wouldn't look great for Honma.

Axis putter, 3 SIM woods and a Vokey lobber only leaves space for 9 Honma clubs...

Looks like they have Kevin Chappell on the team for irons now. May not be a deal, but he is gaming them.

    Remember Bubba and Volvik?

It’s a numbers decision if he goes. A half stroke a round has a price.

Would be a bit of a shock, but if Mark King has left it might be a sign of things to come.

If he leaves, it looks more like honma dumping him than himleaving.

He is currently only playing honma irons, and Justins words, a blade is a blade. Last weekend he sucked with the SIM driver. Honma is not costing him strokes. His game is just not there, and rose toying around with drivers is not something that Honma is not getting it's money's worth.

Wow Greg. Didn't know where you live obviously but glad everything is OK. That has to be scary if it is happening when you are away (and if you are there frankly).

Glad it missed you. Some scary stuff. We had one in MD a week ago that missed me by not much. We hit the basement.. Crazy weather lately. Absolutely nothing to do except take cover. Glad you're all good.

He did an interview/podcast a few weeks ago and sounded pretty happy with Honma and the freedom he has with them. Sure he isn't happy with the driver/woods but Honma wouldn't be the first company like that I mean Mizuno, Srixon and Wilson don't really have any or many staffers playing their woods.

But if he leaves I wonder if he'd go free agent or try and jump on another brand? Or maybe go the way of Patrick Reed and get a JDM company to make him his own irons?

That escalated quickly. Seems something changed after all his praise for Honma just a few weeks back.

Forgiveness? Didn't TM let him go so he explored options elsewhere.
